If I just use the 575, I'd still have to switch Bluetooth devices lol which may take more time, but I free up a usb port
If you're looking to break into using a trackball, then thumb bad. Hold out for a fingertip ball of some sort. Then again, I'm just one plebeian among thousands here. Not sure whether anyone else would agree....

However, i would suggest people breaking into trackballs to try the thumb first since the click fingers are the same, there's only motion to adjust to right off the bat. Some of the index/middle trackballs i tried in the beginning i constantly had issues remembering which fingers for which click and gave up on the miscellaneous (forward/back, etc.) buttons.
