A licensed electrician probably won't hardwire your dishwasher. They'll more likely pull a permit and install an outlet even if your old dishwasher was hardwired.
NEC has an exception permitting hard-wiring for dishwashers specifically labeled as double-insulated, but the default requirement is an outlet and plug. Local code increasingly requires a plug for everything, and home inspectors will flag hardwired appliances regardless of age or code.
Also, you'll need an air gap. If you don't have a punch-out in your sink, they won't install.
Of course, unlicensed handymen will do just about anything.
Your absolutely correct. An electrician would install an outlet and charge you to do that.
My point was that, the install is no longer free if your dishwasher is hardwired. If they show up and see that it doesn't have an outlet than they are just going to leave everything there and you will need to schedule install with an electrician.
Alternatively, you can just install it yourself (hardwire it and hook up water line, etc.).
This is just a PSA to check your current setup before scheduling anything otherwise you may have delays and extra costs associated with the "free delivery and install".
FYI, if you require the dishwasher to be hard-wired (I.e. you don't have an outlet to plug it into), they will not install it for free.
Hard-wire is not a big deal at all (2 wires and a ground to connect to the dishwasher), but the installers aren't electricians so I guess there is some liability there.
I had a Costco dishwasher installed last fall for free and it's hardwired.
Damn... unfortunate timing to be OOS. I was thinking of getting my house a dishwasher as ours hasn't worked for a while now. This is such a killer deal too plus it's with Costco.

OK, than this is YMMV as I had just purchased mine from Costco also in the fall 2022 (kitchen aid deal) and this is exactly what they told me on the phone when I discussed with the installers who contacted me to setup delivery and install.
If doing delivery and install costco partners with local plumbers to do the install (they are the ones who called me originally). If only accepting the delivery, than a delivery company comes and drops it off.

It is a good deal on a cheap dishwasher.
We replaced this same style dishwasher with a higher end unit and it is well worth it. Plastic tub means dishes don't dry properly, also it didn't clean that well and that trap is garbage and needs to be cleaned often as well as being loud.
Yes, hard to find a dishwasher under $400, but if this for your house that you plan on staying in, get a higher end unit. That's what I did. The one I had worked OK (as described above), but the kitchen aid Costco dealer from summer/fall of last year was a great deal. $1200 dishwasher for $600.

The previous owners of our house screwed a plastic box into the floor of the sink cabinet so they had an outlet to plug their fancy pants garbage disposal into (again, we have a septic tank ...) and cut down a faceplate to fit flush to the wall. This was fed from their hardwired dishwasher. I was really suspicious that wasn't code somehow (the face up outlet in a plastic box, not the dangling wire), but the house inspector was OK with it, so I bought a cord for the new dishwasher and fed the outlet directly from the original dishwasher wire (GFCI breaker.) I still don't know that this is code, but cords for appliances are nice. I've seen a newer house where a light switch above the counter was required for the hardwired dishwasher...
Bought this but at first it said out of stock. Then it said doesn't deliver to this area. On third try it took. Might have to try it from different angles to make it go through.

Mine said out of stock. Tried again on the website (not the app) and tada! It went through.
Delivery and installation always included in the price with Costco.
Only true if they have installers in your area. Found this out the hard way a few years ago. They also refused to haul my old unit away until i annoyed them enough.
Never had good experiences with Whirlpool or Frigidaire appliances. Either the heating function doesn't work well, its too loud, no simple functions like delay start, tub basin is cheap quality like plastic on the lower end models.
I would rec Bosch if you could afford it. LG and Samsung for budget option
I've had this model(could be the early versions) running great for the last 8 years. Never had a single issue.
It's pretty quiet.
I highly recommend using only Cascade Platinum packs.

I have a similar Whirlpool with plastic tub (+2 yrs now) and there is never an issue with drying. I chose the plastic tub because the door is not heavy and CONSUMER REPORTS said there was no significant change in drying between plastic and stainless steel tubs.
