I traveled by air and cruise ship carrying bottles of wine sandwiched between layers of clothes and even a 16 pack of beer.
My cheap luggage never failed.
Over time I found the hard material used as a backer that makes the bottom / back of the luggage stuff would deteriorate.
I learned the more you pay the heavier the shell material (usually).
I also learned the cheap Walmart luggage has faults in the handle on telescoping handles ("pilot" style) that can punch the crap out of your fingers when collapsing it.
I still have that Walmart case and just learned to be careful.
If you are going on a trip or vacation yearly this set will do right by you.
If you are touring Europe for a month these may not look so great at the end but they will live to go on your next adventure.
I always liked American Tourister.

Also, as more airlines are pressed to add more passengers to the same size planes...that means there is less room for other 'stuff' like luggage. Either they start charging for carry-ons or lower the sizes of carry-ons they allow before checking bags.
BTW, don't even get me started on my trip to Iceland coming up in March. One of the airlines I have booked has a carry-on max size of 15" TALL. Yes...TALL. My mother uses a larger purse than that for day to day shopping.
That's what the above guys claims but I don't think so. I am industrial engineer and I don't know how he measured it. Which start/end points he took? He just used a soft tape? I am also sure the company didn't just make these for non-air travels.
What material are these constructed from? Looks like cheap vinyl to me?

Got these today. Pretty standard feeling luggage. Like a canvas feel - but a bit less durable feel than real canvas. After seeing this teal set - going or get a black set also. As noted in the reviews. Nesting the medium one onto the larger one is a pain. Nesting the tops first... then the wheels seems to be the trick. Very happy with the look and feel of these.

Point noted. 99% of the time my use case is road trips. Will have to explore a dedicated carry-on when the time comes.
i did get 2 sets. One in teal, one in black... both meet and exceed my expectations of 'budget' luggage. i am sure one flight will make me feel otherwise... lol.
I don't understand why these are made. The carry on is about 2 inches bigger than the largest I've seen allowed.
