I bought the 6800 XT version of this card for less than this 4 months ago... these prices make no sense.

Yes, that's why I kept asking if it is supporting 4k w/ RT. Seems like it is not from other posters.
Do we even know that Diablo 4 is going to support Ray Tracing? In my experience, it's not worth it. If you have the money, sure, go for it. Or heck, go used for a 3080.

I hate Diablo and all that it's become. It's Blizzard's microtransaction scam.
Aside from that Diablo is a top down mouse clicker. It's nowhere as graphic intensive as other AAA Fps shooters. It should be fine with 6800 but until its release and users upload benchmarks there's really no way to know. New releases are poorly optimized and have bugs.
And 4k gaming is another gray area. Too many variables to know right now.

Why not google and see if anyone has early versions from Blizzard. This is a deal hunting website.

From beta tester discussions I briefly read over the past few months, RT didn't work at all for many of them. It either had no affect or crashed the game. It's likely that RT support on D4 will be pretty light and/or not very noticeable. If Blizzard games like Diablo are the main ones you'll be playing, RT is probably a low priority.

That said, if you want RT support in general at a better price, just wait for cheaper next gen options from NVIDIA and AMD. I see every single next gen GPU, including the RTX 4090 and RX 7900 XTX are in stock online and locally for me. That bodes well for availability of upcoming mid-range options. D4 releases summer 2023 at earliest anyway.

<=$500 is likely RX 7700 XT, RTX 4060 Ti. A new/used RX 6800 XT or RTX 3070 Ti also depending on price fluctuations. Just wait for summer announcements and benchmarks from Techpowerup, Hardware Unboxed etc. All of those should be ok for 1440p and some RT for most titles. Mid-range GPUs releasing in the coming months will put more pressure on previous gen mid-range, especially on the used market. I've already been seeing ebay sellers listings dozens (even hundreds) of mining GPUs each week. If you're comfortable with testing, benchmarking, repasting, swapping thermal pads etc, used is a fine option especially with ebay/paypal buyer protection and a decent seller.

Fwiw, I've played through Diablo 1-3 on mostly potato desktops and laptops. When I built my custom gaming desktop in 2014, I was able to run Diablo 3 maxed out at 1080p ultrawide, 60+ fps, using an $180 GPU at the time. Visually, D4 doesn't look all that different from the D3 engine so far so I don't expect PC reqs to be anywhere near something like Forspoken or Cyberpunk.

One thing to note - of all the GPUs I've listed in your price range, you're likely going to need to turn off RT anyway for decent FPS in more demanding titles at 1440p. Legitimate RT effects are still a significant hit to FPS so demanding games slated for 2023 and beyond would likely need more at 1440p or higher. D4 itself is probably fine though as I'd guess the PC specs are closer to the median 2019-2020 triple A release.

No, I am serious. will this card run D4 well with RT on at 1440p? I am just gonna play with my 1440p monitor then.
Do not buy AMD cards for ray tracing.

I own this card and it its a great card stays cool 3 year warranty and its for 1440p gaming not 4k ray tracing does take a hit but of course with more money you can a 6800xt

This rx 6800 is about the same as a nvidia 3070Ti. I love the card but if you want ray tracing nvidia is ahead for now so if you can wait till the new cards come out that would be your best bet. or worse case save for the 4070ti .

The AMD 6000 series GPUs are not good at RayTracing or DLSS. If you want 4K, you'd have to stick with a 3080, or even better, get a 4070ti.

The AMD 7000 series are much better at RT and have their own version of DLSS that works pretty good. The value is there.

4K Gaming at ultra settings with RT is a gimmick and not worth it in my opinion.. I play multiplayer games mostly, so there's probably why.

1440P is the sweet spot and can run most anything at high settings with my EVGA RTX 3080.
Huh? AMD 6000 arent good at dlss because they have fsr, which is the same thing. FSR isnt exclusive to AMD 7000 series lol.

I was insinuating their version of it. Come on people.. such literal nerds! I get it though, I'd do the same thing. I didn't remember the name of it at the time.

This is the best <$500 card on the market.

The 6800XT is just a little bit more so that's not a bad choice either.
