Seems likely that applies here. It sucks to run to the hardware store and pay more for a few bolts, but not as bad as doing the job twice.

Can confirm, I also have this set. You wouldn't be nuts to pass this up, but you won't be screwed if you do get one. I wouldn't bolt to the store to pick up this deal, but if you're at Lowes, it might be good to have around just in case.

If it saves you that $10 in fuel to go pick up the $2 nuts there's that as well.

i like all out of the first bunch of reviews, the good ones are all "collected as part of a promotion"... the real reviews talk about the cheap quality and funny enough the garbage sticker wrapped around the entire thing Wink

while sure, it's nice to have a selection of screws/nuts/bolts/washers... garbage hardware causes more headaches if you're doing anything real. if you want junk to replace screws in a kids toy, sure, this is for you.

what everyone says about the wrapping is true--little tip take a hair dryer and warm up the adhesive wrapping and the cut off each side with a razor knife--as far as the clips holding the 3 trays together they probably will break n time at which point i suggest wrapping a strip of velcro around the 3 trays to keep them together when not in use

There are no "bolts" in this. Just little phillips-head machine screws, both metric and SAE, and pretty short ones at that. Along with matching hex-nuts of both types, some little plain washers, and some admittedly crappy wood screws. The machine screws and nuts are the handiest parts. And no, there are no lock washers or fender washers included.

I do not recommend. I'd rather buy the case for 5 bucks than buy this for 20 with washers I will never use. In fact where is the lock washers and the nuts? I wouldn't even bother , buy a case that can hold more and start your own collection that you would actually use. I just don't see the value after tax even with a military discount.

most people would have collected hundreds if not thousands of parts already over the years sitting in parts bins.

ok I guess if you want to look handy and fill up your empty garage

Garbage quality. Screws break going in to soft pine. Bolts strip as they just start to get tight. Finally just tossed the set I bought. It is that bad.

I bought something similar a while ago. Thought I wasted my money until I lost a bolt putting something together. It was worth the $15 for the whole kit to just walk to my garage and easily get that one bolt. Used the same kit multiple times since then. Everyone that puts things together and DIYer should have one of these. It's not the quality but the availability and convenience.

I like the idea of this but would prefer a HQ set. Can anyone recommend a HQ set even if it's not on sale?

We can add "Invented Threadcrapping" to The First American's list of accomplishments and inventions.

Though rumor has it he was a closet Harbor Freight fan.

I'm interested too. Every time this deal comes up, people complain about quality, but no one says where to go for a complete high quality set.
