Seems likely that applies here. It sucks to run to the hardware store and pay more for a few bolts, but not as bad as doing the job twice.
got this last time. They aren't high quality but its a good set to have around when you need screws/bolts/nuts
Can confirm, I also have this set. You wouldn't be nuts to pass this up, but you won't be screwed if you do get one. I wouldn't bolt to the store to pick up this deal, but if you're at Lowes, it might be good to have around just in case.

I got about 25 old metal drawers passed down from my grandfather filled with any random nut, bolt, washer, screw, or nail I'll ever need. I wish I could tell him how many trips to the hardware store he saved me. I also wish I could tell him that he saved me from buying this.

Good for you! I'm guessing he spent some time overseas, to collect those metric machine screws and nuts in this kit. He'd be astounded how handy they could be for repairs to all the Chinese stuff we have now.

why not buy something like this and save some money ? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-...ed/3024354 [lowes.com]
While some may find this useful, it's still that same Chinese junk sold here.
If you need something that will last, it needs to be grade 5 or higher and preferably USA made.
I've bought grade 5 bolts from HD and broke several of them trying to tighten up steel brackets with my hand ratchet.
Got ticked and went to Fastenal and got some grade 8 stuff, lol.

while sure, it's nice to have a selection of screws/nuts/bolts/washers... garbage hardware causes more headaches if you're doing anything real. if you want junk to replace screws in a kids toy, sure, this is for you.
Well yeah this is what it's for. This would cost me probably damn near $200 for quality steel fasteners from boltdepot.com

But for $20, it'll hold stuff together. I got it last time. The people fussing about the sticker are likely some of the biggest ninnies who wouldn't be using tools anyways.

Bought it last time. Used in a handful of projects. Don't get the hate. It's $20. Good enough to attach PCB to a box for running my permanent LED lights. Attached some casters to the bottom of my harbor freight fan. Not sure what people are expecting from a cheap set, wouldn't use it for anything structural.
always good to have an assortment of all kinds of maintenance stuff. usually i get a bunch of assortments at menards or harbor freight. when i need some better stuff i just go and get it; menards has an excellent assortment of construction and deck wood screws. best to just pick up a box when a project rolls along, keep whats left over on the shelf.

harbor freight has nice assortments of all kinds of stuff, occasionally they are handy. my electronics assortment came in handy tonight upgrading a computer, the screws have been sitting around for years. amazon has nice assortments of electronics screws, gonna need a bunch more now.

The first wood screw I used from this set broke in a predrilled hole. Returned immediately. This set isn't worth $1. Someone warned me before I bought it and I didn't believe them. Believe me. Don't do it.

I find this entire thread kind of amusing. I've used this type of set all my life for projects around the house and never have I regretted one being too low quality. They are not going to rust for indoor applications. Maybe I've had one break out of a thousand, but so do the higher quality screws and bolts. These can cam out, but so do the higher quality versions if you do not use the right bits and torque.

What I HAVE regretted on way too many occasions is not having the exact screw or bolt I need to replace an exiting damaged or missing one or I'm building something custom that requires something a bit unusual.

So these look great. While I probably have enough, I'm in for a set just in case there is something in here I don't already have in my collection of "low quality Chinese" screws and bolts.

Answering my own question after a bit of research. The overall recommendation I came across was to just build a collection overtime. But I'd rather avoid all these trips to HD. So I found bolt depot has sets in various qualities of metal. Stuff gets expensive for the high end stuff https://www.boltdepot.com/Browse....ating=Zinc [boltdepot.com]
That's not really an answer though. Have you found a set with the same level of assortment you can buy that is reasonably priced? I wouldn't mind paying say $50 instead of $20 for a higher quality version with similar assortment. But not looking to spend $100 or much much more (based on your link) on a good assortment.
