Not worth the upgrade.

It's the reference design card from AMD. You can get it at the AMD site for the same price right now. Makes sense to get it at MC though for easy returns or if you need a CPU as well.

Should check for any open box items at MC. Got 6950XT Red Devil for $616. Also saw a 4080 for $1049. Open item

Is this better than the rtx 4070ti. I'm planning to buy the 4070ti but the price is still too high
It consistently beats the 4070ti in almost everything and at every resolution by a small margin.

A 3090ti is faster then the 4070ti and a 6950xt officially beats a 3090ti at 1440p in traditional rasterized gameplay and that is unanimously agreed upon by half a dozen separate reviews.

If your not just playing metro Exodus with ultra ray tracing or exclusively interested in playing cyberpunk on ultra with raytracing at 30 fps then absolutely yes, it is a little faster.

Many people with Nvidia don't even use ray tracing on some games because of the performance hit and there are a few easier to run games with raytracing that the 6950xt can run just fine.

But ya, look at benchmarks. If Ray tracing is really important to you, get a 4080.

DLSS 3 increases latency allot. It's not for high fps gaming and should only be used if your GPU is struggling and your fps is low. It's a great feature to have for future proofing and increasing the longevity of your GPU but does not reproduce the same effect as real frames at high fps. If you were already getting 100fps and turn it on, it hurts performance. Nobody that can tell the difference between 60fps and 120fps plays with it turned on. Feel free to read up on that as well

it doesn't stomp the 3080..it's a hair faster. And no way does it compete with a 3090ti.
although this is a really good deal
Per half a dozen major reviews and official benchmarks, it absolutely does beat a 3090ti at 1440p and is a frame or 2 slower at 4k.

every review site says otherwise, unless your talking about ray tracing.

this will be faster than the 4070ti in pretty much everything except ray tracing as far as gaming is concerned.

Don't think it's the AMD reference as I have mine sitting here and it has two fans. Maybe a different model?

I would have love to shave $50 off as I bought the 13700k and the AMD 6950XT...
there is no such thing as a 6900xt or 6950xt with only 2 fans, i dont even think anyone makes the 6800xt with only 2 fans.

Oh cute, a random YouTube video with 8 comments.

It's 3 percent faster then a 3090ti at 1440p and 5 percent slower at 4k. Per Toms hardware.

And that's with the old drivers and SAM turned off and only a 12900k.

It is even faster at 1440p with a 5800x3d and SAM turned on and the current driver's and some reviews of the 4070ti and 7900xt show that.

Really depends on the game. In most games it's 10-20% faster (albeit with weaker ray tracing) but for something like MW2, on average its about 50% faster than the 3080 10gb.

It was even beating a 7900 XT in several games at 1440p. And beat a 4070ti in almost everything at every resolution, not involving ray tracing.

For everyone arguing on here, on average a 6950 XT will be 20-25% faster than a 3080 10GB at 1440p resolution (see link for objective evidence). At 1440p a 3080 10GB will get around 80 FPS for the 1% lows, so I'd call that playable by any measure. This is an ok deal made a little sweeter if you actually want the free games they're offering here.

if by "random video" you mean the first result for 6950xt vs 3090ti.

you're free to find other videos son, in no way shape or form is a 6950xt faster

I'm I the only one that is around 500 miles from any MicroCenter?

I'm always amazed at how many thumbs-up votes these get.

A thousand smackaroos on cpu and gpu alone.
You could probably build a whole rig
just as capable playing AAA games on 1440p.
