2) Some people like high reps vs the lower rep counts of pull ups. More "beginner stuff" you should know...being an expert and all.
3) Some people due to shoulder, wrist, or elbow injuries (all common in weight training) might not be doing pulls ups. For example, tore my bicep tendon over the summer...probably will never do another full pull up again so I have to settle for such "beginner stuff."
There are top tier athletes and "body builders"...who never do pullups. They must be "beginners" too? Your yardstick is the only one the world must be measured by.
I've used kettlebells for years. Many would argue anyone who uses a machine (as a "crutch") to isolate muscles is a "beginner." Others would say kettlebells are a waste of energy, a fad, for beginners, etc or not good use of time because they don't isolate muscles groups. The first step towards not being a beginner is to understand fitness is an evolving science (and an art) that has many routes to success and that success can be measured differently to different people. Clearly not all of us have made it over that hurdle yet.
