you want to compare a $500 card with a $1200 card... Blink
if your budget allows a 4080, then you should get a 6900 xt, 6950xt or even a 7900xt, xtx. You shouldn't be looking at a 6800xt comparing it to 4080.

Both cards will work with video editting and COD, depends on what kind of performance you want out of it.
It doesn't matter. Just cause they both have 16GB if memory does not make them comparable.

Was on the fence about waiting for a deal on a 6800 XT or getting the 6950 XT for $700. Finally decided to bite the bullet on this one because I don't see an extra $180 of value (34% price increase) in the 6950 XT.

This card should be perfect for 1440p gaming. 6800 XTs are getting harder and harder to find. Thanks OP.
Similar boat here (debating the 6950 XT for about 2 months now) but couldn't justify spending that much. $520 is a lot easier to stomach.

Here's to being frugal and wanting almost the best!

If it was at 4K I'd say go big, but if you're content on 1440p, then just got 6800xt and be happy.

Best price yet I've seen for a 6800XT. I might consider buying myself a 2nd one.

Looking to upgrade my RX480 and i wondering how come there isnt any nvidia sales?? Almost all AMD. I'd go AMD for gaming but I edit video in premiere pro, and I prioritize performance for editing first.

This or a 4080 for games like call of duty and such and editing?
Editing what? Video - go with Nvidia GPU or, at least just Intel CPU.
6800 XT good for ultra 4K/60 gaming without ray tracing.
And yes, RTX 4080 is absolutely different money.

6950 XT 1440p/120 Pro gaming vs 6800 XT 4K/60 casual gaming, depend what you need.

Because Nvidia fancy themselves the premium product now, and even with some minor sales here and there AMD isn't really putting much pressure on them atm to change their position. There's probably close to a thousand videos on YouTube at this point covering the situation if you're truly interested.

H265 422 4k24p, 4k30p, 4k120p from my Sony a7siii camera. I currently have a 5900x cpu and it is a nightmare to edit on since my encoders aren't great for this codec. Was thinking of going Nvidia to help with this while keeping the AMD cpu, or going Intel for its Igpu decoder and getting an AMD power house value GPU for gaming and just let the Intel iGPU Decode.

I wasn't sure to pick up a 6800 or 6800XT, but I found one on bestbuy for $550 XFX MERC 6800XT, I haven't picked it up yet...which card is better XFX or powercooler? I heard XFX MERC 6800XT is a massive card that barely fits NR200.

Guess the demand died down finally. Every time I've seen it this price before this it sold out near instantly.
there were some 6800XT in stock for over a week during black friday for little as $450, and plenty models were available at $520. various 6700XT were 310-330. anyone who wanted one could have got one.

6800 only if you are good with overclocking and very low price, otherwise - 6800 XT because ultra 4k/60 gaming on stock.
XFX over Powercolor.

Hmm, Ryzen 5900x pretty powerful. In your case I'll save money and just change video-editing software to program with normal Ryzen support. If you encode video with CPU - it's for sure software issue because you use raw CPU power. Intel Quick Sync good mostly for quick videos like previews or simple "web quality" presets up to 1080p, it's not for 4K hi quality videos.
If we talking about GPU video editiong because you need available CPU cores for other simultaneous tasks - it's only Nvidia GPU with CUDA cores. If you making money with video-editing - minimum 4070 Ti, if not - let's say 3060 Ti minimum.
AMD.. well, I really like it, but only for games without ray-tracing, not good for any work - not encoding, not GPU virtualization, not machine learning, I wish them good luck to improve all that but they tried many years and still behind Nvidia...
