There is currently another deal for a similar 12TB Seagate Exos drive for $104.99 with +133 TU but it only has a 2 year warranty. For an extra $5, you get an additional 3 years of warranty coverage with this drive. Well worth it in my opinion.

*edit
MTBF =mean(avg) time between failures, so I guess yes to the 285 yrs above
Which one is more quieter and which is the better deal? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

That said, the Exos drives are generally newer, so they probably have fewer hours on them. But that's less of an issue for durable enterprise drives. I've had much better luck with HGST/Hitatchi/WD Ultrastars, so I bought this before it went FP.

Because it went FP here. SD Effect. Companies often raise prices when there is higher demand for products. Serverpartdeals did the same thing on the Exos drives when those went FP, though they eventually dropped the price of one of them.
But I'm not sure what you mean about it going FP .... this post has a negative rating and never made it FP. I guess people would rather jump on the Exos drives with a much inferior warranty? Not me... I bought 6 of these drives back in September when they were the same price. And when I saw them drop again a couple days ago I bought another one to use as a hot spare in the unlikely event that I'll actually need it.
As for the price now being $119.99, I"m sure it will drop back down to $109.99 at some point. The 10TB drives are still available for $89.99 which is a better value per TB anyway.

Gohardware has a decent reputation. I was warned to stay away from the other dealers on Amazon of refurb drives.
I grabbed this from my notes I took a year ago researching drives fwiw: "Goharddrive, also uses the handles WPI (Amazon) and Apethouse (eBay). They warrant the drives and have an easy RMA process, they just send the shipping label and replace the drives."
Lastly, the bigger the drive, the more likely it has not been used for 5 plus years. That is how I feel about it. i check when a certain size drive hit the market, and assume it could be that old. They zero out the drives SMART now. before they left all the hours on smart.
- Both $100 and $110 (the current price) are the cheapest we've ever seen for 14TB drives.
- the WD HC 520 has to be incorrectly labeled, and is actually a HC 530, since WD didn't make 520's in 14TB. (Either that, or the 14TB listing is wrong, but the model number confirms that it's 14TB.)
- That's actually a good thing, since with each new version, they get slightly faster and slightly more efficient. It also makes it likely to be newer and have less datacenter use.
- If the model number is correct, this drive has the power disable feature (based on the second to last digit being a "0", rather than an "L" for legacy). If you have an older system or power supply, it MIGHT not work out of the box as is. But a cheap ($5-ish) power adapter (or some kapton tape on the third pin of the connection) will make it work fine. So, if you've already gotten one, and it's not working, don't assume that it's broken.
I'm surprised that goharddrive didn't mention the power disable feature, since it's important to know about, given that it can completely disable the drive on most older systems! Then again, they have it incorrectly listed as an HC520 (which may or may not have this feature), so they may not have realized.
At either price, I'd jump on this deal - if I didn't already have a 12TB HC 520 sitting on my shelf unused!
