Tesla autopilot and enhanced autopilot doesn't allow for totally hands off highway driving like Blue Cruise and Super Cruise. I wonder if it's a hardware limitation or if Tesla is holding it back to make FSD more enticing.
EAP is mostly hands off, this doesn't seem technical hurdle but regulatory. I have no concern on the highway putting my car in EAP & ignoring the road while on phone; of course I touch wheel when blue flashing; it's quite convenient when texting, Google & such... hand does not need to stay in contact with the steering wheel; overall years they've also make devices to trick it but it's not a major inconvenience to check in.

Yep, you must be!

Where are you getting the highest customer satisfaction rating from? I know they edge out slightly in safety and certainly buying experience (but b.e. will be improving for Ford too in 2024), but other than that and especially the SC network, no so special w/definite issues in other areas as previously noted.
Only JD Power, Consumer Reports, Auto Trader, Edmunds and etc. Basically nobody.

Those issues you speak of most normal people don't pay attention to or obviously don't care. I see 50 Tesla in a 6 mile driving radius, none of my neighbors know what a panel gap is.

I've been 19 months on a Ford Lightning waiting list. Ask them when and they'll have not a clue.

I can buy and drive my 2022 Ford Maverick 200K miles for the $24K price premium for "Mustang" EV.

The cost of these EV's at higher interest rates, higher insurance rates, and limited range is simply a budget buster for the average working person.

EVs are currently a rich person's toy.
I also got the maverick. Its the best overall deal for any new car.

Why would you get one of these instead of a tesla?
Because of Tesla's history of poor craftsmanship 🤷 ♂️🤷 ♂️

We are done trying to hassle with Ford Dealer mark ups on the West Coast for EV's. Just going to order another Tesla online. When will Ford Wake up and stop their shady dealers from ripping off potential customers? Thumbs way down.

Ford and other auto companies are desperate to make electric cars work. I went to college with some engineers at Michigan who probably are working for the auto industry now. Back in the early 2000s. Many were electric car zealots like a lot of other college kids I knew at the time. You could destroy them easily in an argument about EVs. They were smart enough to get an engineering degree but lacked any and all common sense. I wouldn't even say they were smart, their parents just did their homework for them and got them tutors, most likely.

Someone once told me, an older engineer, I think, that you have to operate by logic alone and not emotion when making decisions to be successful. A lot of engineers today don't seem to understand that anymore. The logic just doesn't work for EVs. All I hear are excuses and nothing about them is vetted. Scary.

Because the steering wheel doesn't fall off.
On delivery i recommend everyone pull on the tesla steering wheel to see if it comes off and then slam their balls in the cars door repeatedly for 5 hours.

The slamming the balls repeatedly in a car door for 5 hours is so you can replicate the amount of pain and time you will spend at the ford dealership

The Infamous "Ford Pinto Memo"

Fatalities Associated with Crash-Induced Fuel Leakage and Fires

Expected Costs of producing the Pinto with fuel tank modifications:
Expected unit sales: 11 million vehicles (includes utility vehicles built on same chassis)
Modification costs per unit: $11.00

Total Cost: $121 million (11,000,000 vehicles x $11.00 per unit)

Expected Costs of producing the Pinto without fuel tank modifications:
Expected accident results (assuming 2100 accidents)
180 burn deaths
180 serious burn injuries
2100 burned out vehicles

Unit costs of accident results (assuming out of court settlements)
$200,000 per burn death
$67,000 per serious injury
$700 per burned out vehicle

Total Costs: $49.53 million (180 deaths x $200k) + (180 injuries x $67k) + (2100 vehicles x $700 per vehicle)

Source? Last I heard was coal-baron Manchin was proposing this
On an episode of Combat they showed French coal power freight trucks they used in France during WW2 and before. And in the same week as that episode, on TCM there was an old movie, I think "Life With Father" that showed a coal powered steam car used in the USA.

Up in Maine I know someone who uses coal for heat in the winter. He says it is as cheap as can be. He must have a source.

When you're on a road trip in the winter waiting for a tow truck to get you to a charger, maybe you can fire up that clip to pass the time.
