Be aware this is the 14" version not the 16" version normally seen posted here. So when comparing the price hereto past deals keep this in mind. Still might buy though. Any reason to wait for this price on the 16"
I noticed the same thing. Is this still a good deal on the 14" version?

Ah, so this is not the normal deal of "chainsaw and 12.0 battery " for $400's? I was wondering why they would pair with just a 6.0 battery…

What do you mean by hackable? Please explain.
just means returning one of the items purchased. HomeDepot deals will sometime allow the "bare tool with a free gift" deals. if that's the case, add both to the cart and just return or don't pickup the thing you don't want... you'll get the item you do want, for the stated prorated price.

There is a top handle version coming out really soon, it was supposed to be available in January. I would wait for that one if you like top handle saws.

i wanted the 16'', but honestly i think the 14'' will be better for quick/easy stuff when i just want to grab this and go. if i'm doing anything big or all day, i'll go fire up the 20'' 455 Rancher.
especially for 196$ if you don't need the battery... that's a smoking deal.

had to go take a look at that...
a top handle chainsaw, looks odd, really odd. wonder how it feels not having the traditional rear handle (albeit a bit longer than a normal chainsaw.)

for those (like me) that are interested in what he's referring to.

Get this and if you feel like you should have gone with the 16", then just throw the milwaukee 16" bar and chain on it and convert it to 16". It uses the same tool/body/motor as the 16" saw, this one just has a 14" bar/chain on it.

Buy the deal shown in the comments where you add the battery... return the battery only.. keep the saw. ... reading prior comments is fundamental.

14" and 16" use the same body... bar/chain is the only difference... so you can swap bars/chains out later to upgrade if you need to. Uses a Oregon bar best I recall.

lol... you guys. i literally outlined the steps in that post.
-click the link i posted
-click the "free gift" (HD prorates the price of both items when a you add a "free gift", ~38% in this case)
-add the battery and chainsaw to the cart
-order both
-return or don't pickup the one you don't want
-profit

there's no magic here.

good point, i figured it was a special bar... you know how companies love to make shit proprietary so they can upcharge Wink
that said... with the amount of reviews talking about overheating batteries, i'll just use it for smaller work anyway. plenty of smaller trees falling on the property that it'll be nice to not grab and gas up the big guy.
