Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Wow. I get to upgrade from my S21 Ultra to the S23 Ultra for ~$200, after trade-in (assuming they pay what they claim). I'm already on Fi. That seems like a hell of a deal. The trade-in value they offer is within $50 of what I'd get on ebay after listing/selling fees. I'm shocked. Wasn't in the market to replace my phone, but how could I not at this price?

4 months. 120 days = 4 months.

So the cheapest monthly plan is $25 a month?
Oh in that case that will be $100 for me.

$20 + Taxes/Fees + 0GB data usage (cheapest plan) every 30 days

Since as usual there is a lot of confusion. In the last year I have successfully done three Fi purchases all with tradeins. Everything went well. Tradein horror stories seem to be overrated.

First was s22 plus for $399 with iphone 11 tradein for $320.
Second was s22 ultra for $599 with s21 tradein for $580.
Third was pixel 7 for $399 with iphone 8 tradein for $399.

In all three cases the tradein value was refunded back to my card around 1-2 weeks after I sent the tradein phone.

In my case I ported in Google Voice dummy numbers and kept thr line active for 120 days paying $20 + taxes each month.

In all three cases I removed the Fi SIM, put it aside and put in a non-Fi SIM and used the phone. What I made sure was not to use the Fi SIM in another phone.

There is a counter in fi.google.com "Billing" section which shows a instant rebate counter. That can be used to make sure all aspects of the instant rebate are being satisfied.
Answered my questions, so Google Voice number is good and it's 20 bucks a month for 4 months. So $680 plus tax for a 512gb model.

I don't see any restriction for people that signed up for the Z Fold4 promo.

This is a killer deal if you locked that in, and can now get an S23 for only $299 too.

Can a family member create their own account at the same address and get the promo even though I had my own account that I cancelled recently?

You would have to wait until the previous 120days promo period has passed, i assume?

The only term that might kick in is "cannot be combined with any other offer" - it's vague. This offer is for existing Fi customers, that one was for new Fi customers.

The 120 period for Fold4 ends in 4-10 days depending on when you ordered. Might be worth waiting, getting any clarity from Google is not going to happen.

If anyone still in a Fi promo does place an order, post back here and share what happens in the Billing -> Fi Savings page.

Offer ends Feb 16, so there is time. I'm going to wait until Fi Savings shows completed unless others confirm it's a non-issue.

Price is great, but trade-in values are awful. My S22 Ultra 256GB is worth $280, but my 12 Pro Max 128GB is $425,

I was hoping the Samsung S22 Ultra would be worth $900-1000 on trade-in for the S23 Ultra 256GB. Would have jumped on that deal and traded my perfect, blue, unlocked S22 Ultra.
Considering they were selling the S22 series for about 300-600 too, there's no way they'd give you 1k trade in value.

Thanks for the recommendation! Never heard of that site. I see a $2/mo charge. Is that something I can cancel or am I hooked? Sorry, haven't had a chance to look through their t&c yet. Thanks again!
Its $2/mo if you keep the number parked with them, if you port it out right away they only charge for the 1st month.

Is this ultra better than my p7? I mean spec wise it's better but I really enjoy the transcript in the recorder app, the phone screening, and even live caption on pixel phone.
Camera is pretty good as well.

this is misleading. what you did is put the fi sim card into another phone and started using it. what you should have done is put the sim in the drawer. I have s22 from previous deal, never used it after activation and no charge back.. threw the sim in the trash. no charge back. obviously, this creates problems if you ported a 'real' number.
Just wondering if we still need to pay the service fee of Google Fi when the Fi Sim is in the trash.

fi website: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (SM8450)

Is this a mistake? I thought S23 will be Gen 2, not the same as in last year's model.

So this information is misleading. If you activate the SIM in the correct phone, take it out, and either don't use the SIM at all OR put it back into the phone you purchased, you will have 0 issues retaining the credit. As long as you activate in correct phone, pay the bill, and take the SIM out, you will be fine.

Just to state step by step how I do it:

- Pop in Google Fi SIM, as it's always separate
- Power on device
- Complete initial setup
- Confirm the number transfer went through by doing a test call. If test call doesn't go through, update number transfer information on Google Fi website accordingly
- Pop out SIM
- Factory Reset device

That's it. Throw the Fi SIM in the phone box and don't look at it for 120 days. As soon as you throw that SIM card into another device, you'll lose the promotion instantly with 0 means of getting it back.
Do we need to pay the Fi service fee for the whole 120 days?

I don't get why people are TU on this..

For trade in, it gives me $300 for S22 Ultra 5G 512GB, or $75 for S10 128G. vs Samsung direct offer values those at $1000 & $800 respectively.

$800 trade in for a S10 is a total no brainer. Last year Samsung was only giving $150 for a S10. I am still debating if I want to give up S22 Ultra for $1000.
excuse me but where the F you see Sammy offering those trade in values ?
