Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Is this ultra better than my p7? I mean spec wise it's better but I really enjoy the transcript in the recorder app, the phone screening, and even live caption on pixel phone.
Camera is pretty good as well.
I have had a p6pro and p7pro. The extra software features on the pixels are amazing and I miss them (I have a fold4 now). Samsung's OneUI is great nowadays but you might miss some of those features. That said, I get way better reception with my Samsung than either pixel. My wife has had the same experience going from a p6 to a S22+. I mean waaaay better reception. Tmo in bay area

I don't get why people are TU on this..

For trade in, it gives me $300 for S22 Ultra 5G 512GB, or $75 for S10 128G. vs Samsung direct offer values those at $1000 & $800 respectively.

$800 trade in for a S10 is a total no brainer. Last year Samsung was only giving $150 for a S10. I am still debating if I want to give up S22 Ultra for $1000.
I think you fell asleep and we're dreaming....s22 is $500 trade in on Samsung

Thanks for the recommendation! Never heard of that site. I see a $2/mo charge. Is that something I can cancel or am I hooked? Sorry, haven't had a chance to look through their t&c yet. Thanks again!
$2 for the 30 days. You need to port it away to a different carrier to end the charge.
Basically the number is yours, but the service fee to keep it active is $2 for the first 30 days.

I never kept the number after the initial 30 days with NumberBarn, so I don't know how much they charge per month after that to keep it active.

Info from NumberBarn:

All numbers will need to be activated to port out to a new carrier. Selecting our Port Away plan allows the number to be activated on our system for porting. It is the least expensive and allows you 30 days to port away without paying any additional monthly fees. Once the number has ported away, your NumberBarn service is automatically cancelled and you will not incur any further charges.

this is a SLAP in the face of Sammy for running such a terrible tradein promo. Its under $400 here for S23, Scamsung is over $500 WITH S22 tradein, really Scamsung? while i have an S22 in pristine condition, i may go for this deal and just sell my S22 elsewhere (or keep it for the inevitable Sammy promo coming down the pike). only thing I want is better batt than s22. does s23 provide that?
What do you feel is fair trade in vbalue for an s22?

Since as usual there is a lot of confusion. In the last year I have successfully done three Fi purchases all with tradeins. Everything went well. Tradein horror stories seem to be overrated.

First was s22 plus for $399 with iphone 11 tradein for $320.
Second was s22 ultra for $599 with s21 tradein for $580.
Third was pixel 7 for $399 with iphone 8 tradein for $399.

In all three cases the tradein value was refunded back to my card around 1-2 weeks after I sent the tradein phone.

In my case I ported in Google Voice dummy numbers and kept thr line active for 120 days paying $20 + taxes each month.

In all three cases I removed the Fi SIM, put it aside and put in a non-Fi SIM and used the phone. What I made sure was not to use the Fi SIM in another phone.

There is a counter in fi.google.com "Billing" section which shows a instant rebate counter. That can be used to make sure all aspects of the instant rebate are being satisfied.
Really helpful, thanks. Especially after the initial misinformation being spread in this thread. But especially that bit about the counter in the billing section that can be used to keep tabs on the status of the rebate.

With S22 deal from 4 months ago, yes, so I would assume nothing changed.

While confirming in billing I only have a week remaining until my current 120 day $500 off S22 offer is finished, noticed Google Fi now states I can transfer my Google Fi number (was google voice that I used for home phone with OBi202) back to Google Voice. They will give me a new Google Fi number to replace it with. Nothing to do with this deal or the 120 days required to be on the service. Always good idea to have extra numbers to port. Started the 24h process.

With only $140 trade in value for my S22 256GB, will pass on this deal and hope better deals for S23 Ultra come along.
Dang only 140 for s22. I guess I will also wait for better trade in valu3

Has anyone gone back and forth from Verizon to Fi, then back to Verizon all with the same phone #? How does this work with an existing Verizon plan? Is this possible? I have no problem in paying on both lines assuming I can use Verizon data on the new phone.

I have no interest in switching to Fi and would just be looking to purchase the phone + 4 months of service at a discount.

If I trade in my Z Fold 3 that I don't use, I can get the S23U for $79.99. I assume my Google One membership may get me another $59.99 off, so it may end up being $20. I was super disappointed by the trade-in value of the Z Fold 3 with Samsung. I'm not trading in a Z Fold 3 and paying $670. vomit

Would the hive mind recommend porting a single T-Mobile One Plus line out and onto Fi? I used "Project Fi" year one back in 2015/2016, and the service was trash, but that was probably because I was in SE Louisiana, and Fi used to always jump to Sprint first over T-Mobile. Now that it's just T-Mobile and I'm in Dallas, it seems like a good deal. I can port my number back to T-Mobile on my wife's separate One Plus plan in 120 days if it's an awful experience. People seem to advocate for these older One Plus plans, so it could be good to jump back on one in the future.

Thoughts?

This is from their website. It does have a requirement to keep the line open for 120 days or else you will be charged back.

How do I qualify for the discount?

You must be a new Fi customer. A new Fi customer is someone who has never had Fi service or someone whose last day of Fi service took place more than 180 days before making a purchase with this promotion.

To qualify for the full discount, you need to:

Purchase the device or currently be in a group plan with the purchaser.

Activate the phone on a full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation.

You must also bring/transfer your number to Fi within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email. Numbers ported in must be from carriers that have calling, voice and data services. Fi-to-Fi number transfers are not eligible.

Remain active and in good standing for 120 consecutive days. Pausing, changing, or suspending the account will void the promotion.

The discounted price will automatically apply during checkout. If you do not meet the conditions above, the discount will be charged to your Google Pay account to match the full price of the phone.
Can we port-in a Google Voice number and does that qualify for this deal/discount?

I have a T-Mobile legacy pay as you go SIM card I don't use anymore; it doesn't even have data, just calling and texting. Could I use that to port-in, and then activate the Fi $20+$10 data for 4 months and get the 512gb S23 Ultra for $600? Well, $720?

If I don't use data at all (always connect to WIFI), will monthly fee be strictly $20? Or I have to pay additional $10 for even 0.1MB data used?
