Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I agree with your breakdown.. it makes sense with a S22 Ultra. I am just debating if I want to bother with the trouble of selling and etc.
With my wife's S10. it's a pretty easy decision to go with $800 trade in via T-Mobile. She would end up paying ~300 to get to 512G S23 Ultra.. we were about to pay that much for a refurb S20 Ultra about a month ago.
If it was me, and i already had the plan, and had no changes in the next 2 years, Id go with the tmobile 1k deal for the ultra. While you can try to sell it for a good price, there may be more also doing the same, which means the value will vary greatly. And as others have stated, the value is actually closer to 600.

The s23 will run you 600 plus tax(660 to keep it simple), plus service. With t mobile, you wont pay more for service(more than you already are), which means your trade in is worth 1080 with t mobile, bringing total cost to you to 250 after taxes vs this deal. This also assumes you do a port in with a line outside of your main line, otherwise this is a fee that youd paid regardless.

Now the important thing about the close to 600 value if the s22: to match this deal, youd have to sell it for around 500 to match the t mobile deal. So in this case, is 100~ bucks saved worth the time needed to haggle with people to get the phone? Thats on you to decide. I would, like i stated, go with the tmobile deal.

Also, samsung gave me a 5% coupon that might work on the t mobile deal(cant try because I dont have magenta max), so that would basically narrow the gap if so. Coupon came in after i left site after having it in cart.

Tldr: if I could, I would do the t mobile deal. Selling on marketplaces suck, especially to get the extra out of it.

People in the s22 deal thread at Best Buy going on a few months, were telling me N20U would not hold its value because its old phone but I see they were wrong, its still going strong - more money for N20U than s22
The Note 20 Ultra is already good enough for most people. 120Hz, very bright screen, expandable storage. I get tired of using the same phone after a while, but there's nothing wrong with the N20U; maybe my battery life at this point, but that's to be expected.

I have a Note Ultra 5G 128 GB. They offered me $420
At least its higher than most of the s22 variants - its odd Fi has a double listing for a N20U without 5g, I didnt even know that existed - make sure you choose the 5g

Samsung was having some sick trade in deals on the N20U in Nov/Dec however its all relative to what you pay, not sure if that will come back. I got $950 towards a Fold 4

I doubt it. Because its currently being sold as new and more importantly its the latest generation in its class

Samsung has $750 off for the Fold 4 trade in. Don't see why others don't follow

How long do I need to be on google fi if existing customer. I know for new customers it's 120 days. For s22 promo existing customer it was only 30 days.

Seems they don't want you to do an annual upgrade. I have the S22+ 256gb and they are offering only $190 trade in. The older S21+ 256gb is $339 for trade in. Perhaps I'll wait another year and get a higher trade in value.

Ending software updates might be a concern for some.

That's terrible, can you pay ahead all four months?

For 120 days every night at 12 Fi will ping the SIM, if it is not inserted into the phone you bought you get 500$ charged back. You have to use the Fi SIM in the S23 you buy for entire duration of promo. Learned it the hard way.
I've done 5 Fi deals (4 S22s and one P7). After activating the phone, I made a few test calls/texts then turn it off and put in the box. The countdown continued each night until the required days were met and the promotion "Earned". Never had a problem with the phone not in use.
