Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Needing a new phone and carrier.
Is Google Fi a good one anyways or would ya suggest something else?
Low data usage and single line is all needed.

Cool deal but definitely not enough storage. I'm still using the note 20 Ultra because it was the last one with expandable storage.
512GB is not enough storage?EEK!

There are wayyyy too many pages to sort through. Can GV # be used for port-in considering it says it needs to be from a carrier with calling, voice, and data? My GV doesn't have data abilities that I know of. Also, does the $20/mo Flex plan count for the 120 days or does it need to be the $50/mo plan? Sorry if this has been answered. I just don't want to end up paying $1,200+ tax for this by making some rookie mistake. TIA
$2 plus tax will work. a bunch of people have used google voice. i would use a diff prepaid carrier to be sure.

512GB is not enough? What kind of stuff you have in Note 20U?

I'm getting the same promo as an existing user,

"$600 off Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra when you activate it on an existing Fi line. Plus, free storage upgrade included."

$600 off Samsung S23 Ultra, plus free storage upgrade included
Purchase a Galaxy S23 Ultra 512GB phone for the price of a Galaxy S23 Ultra 256GB from fi.google.com and get an additional $600 off. The $180 value of the storage upgrade is reflected in the discounted price of the 512GB phone on fi.google.com. And the added $600 discount will be automatically applied at checkout for a total of $780 off.
How do I qualify for the discount?
An existing Fi customer is someone who currently has Fi service or whose last day of Fi service took place within the last 180 days.
To qualify for the full discount, you need to:
Purchase the device or currently be in a group plan with the purchaser.
Activate the phone on a full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation.
If you do not currently have Fi service and your last day of Fi service took place within the last 180 days as part of an existing single subscriber or group plan, you must also bring/transfer your number to Fi within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email. Numbers ported in must be from carriers that have calling, voice and data services. Fi-to-Fi number transfers are not eligible.
Remain active and in good standing for 120 consecutive days. Pausing, changing, or suspending the account will void the promotion.
The discounted price will automatically apply during checkout. If you do not meet the conditions above, the discount will be charged to your Google Pay account to match the full price of the phone.
Any other details to know?
Offer is valid until February 16, 2023 at 11:59PM PT or while supplies last.
For individual plans, limit one per person. For group plans, limit one per group plan member.
Offer is only available to U.S. residents 18 years or older, and requires Google Pay and Google Fi accounts.
Unless otherwise stated, this offer cannot be combined with other offers.
Discount is not transferable and is not valid for cash or cash equivalent.
If Fi determines that this offer is used in connection with abuse, misuse, or fraud, or if the account used to purchase the phone is not in good standing, the discounted amount will be charged to your Google Pay account.
Void where prohibited.

One more dumb Q. How do you know when your promo req has been fulfilled? Does it say somewhere in your account? Do y'all just cancel your plans at the 120 day mark? Thx. About to pull the trigger with a trade-in I got for free 😊 🤞🏼

Google Fi is too expensive. Get the $10 or $15 T-Mobile Connect plan, pay with discounted refill cards from Target.

You can just buy a google Fi plan to become an existing customer, and then buy the s22 as existing customer without port-in to qualify for this deal.

I am an idiot, hope someone can clarify something for me.

I am one of those that put the Google FI SIM in a drawer after I activated it, and I have 5 days remaining to be free of the chargeback from their past S22U offer. Today I got the email from Google with this Deal, and because I wanted to check which FI number I had, I stupidly put the Google FI SIM in an old iPhone XR I have, placed a call to my wife's number, then hung up (didn't reach voicemail). The SIM was less than 3 minutes inside the phone and I am currently in Mexico traveling.

Do you think I'll get the chargeback? Any suggestions to prvent it?
On your XR, did you had to install/activate the sim with GoogleFi app in order to use the phone? Don't know if it's the same process on IOS, but if you didn't install the GoogleFi app just put the sim back in S22U. Before you do that, make sure you factory reset S22U if you were previously using S22U with another carrier. Then put GoogleFi sim in, it's gonna take you through the activation process again and it will install GoogleFi app. Then check the Billing section like someone suggested to make sure promo is still on. If you had to install GoogleFi app on your XR, I think you have until midnight to return back your GoogleFi SIM to S22U. Good luck, hope it works!

#edit If you didn't install GoogleFi app on the XR, go check the status of the promo (login to your account using web browser or call the support, even better, let them call you there's an option). If the promo is still on, most likely you don't have to do anything.

Just placed order for a cream S23 Ultra. This year's promo is the almost the same as last year's S22 Ultra at Fi. Two differences:

1. This year we have a direct $600 off instead of Fi credit + discount. We save some tax dollars here.
2. Storage upgrade is the same, but this year is from 256 to 512GB vs. 128 to 256 GB in S22 Ultra.

I am a long time Fi customer and is so far satisfied with its $20/person unlimited group plan. Will stay another year at least. 120-day requirement does not bother me.

So it's t-mob giving you that trade in value and not Samsung. Also, you conveniently missed unlocked vs 24 month bill credits.

So I have an S22 now. If I trade it to Samsung for an S23 (no plus/ultra for either), it'll cost me $550 to upgrade (based on current trade-in values).

If I get Fi for 120 days at $20/mo (I don't need more than 6 GB), I'm paying $80 + fees for Fi, plus $300 for the S23, AND I can still sell my S22 elsewhere. Does that sound right?

When I use this link: https://fi.google.com/buy-devices it's just showing me the full price for the S23, even when adding a plan (minus the 'free storage upgrade' to 256 GB). Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Edited to add: This is as a new Fi customer, getting a new #. I don't care about the #.
Get $800 for your s22 from T-Mobile. Or $1000 if it's an s22+
