Is Google fi talk over internet? Meaning you have to have WiFi or data on your phone to talk? Also, do callers hear what one hears when calling a Google voice number?
you can change the default voicemail greeting on both google fi and google voice

Does anyone know how long we have until we have to send in the trade in phone? If I don't receive the S23 until 2/27, can I keep my trade in phone until the new one arrives?

Here the term of promotion:
You must also bring/transfer your number to Fi within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email. Numbers ported in must be from carriers that have calling, voice and data services. Fi-to-Fi number transfers are not eligible.

Google Voice DOES NOT has data service, you are trying to save $10 to get a cheap service but risk $799 charge back from Fi by ignoring the promotion term. Good Luck
So, during ordering, I entered the new GV number I got on my another Gmail, and entered it in the port in section of the form. The system checked it instantly and approved it. Otherwise, the discount would have disappeared from the order right away, my friend. I don't consider this a risk as Google itself approved it and will have to deal with it, otherwise, class action lawsuit risk may hang on their neck.

I get it the wording in the T&S, but there are always exceptions and loopholes. GV is Google own domain, but not active pay service, so they are making exception to increase their market share, achieves their end goal. I would suggest you do a drill order on a number that doesn't have a data service, outside of GV, and I like to believe that Google will approve it. They just want new business of new customers in their market share, and that's the goal here.

So I have an S22 now. If I trade it to Samsung for an S23 (no plus/ultra for either), it'll cost me $550 to upgrade (based on current trade-in values).

If I get Fi for 120 days at $20/mo (I don't need more than 6 GB), I'm paying $80 + fees for Fi, plus $300 for the S23, AND I can still sell my S22 elsewhere. Does that sound right?

When I use this link: https://fi.google.com/buy-devices it's just showing me the full price for the S23, even when adding a plan (minus the 'free storage upgrade' to 256 GB). Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Edited to add: This is as a new Fi customer, getting a new #. I don't care about the #.
I have a number you can use for the port. I bought 1 more than I could use for an Xfinity promo. If you want it, it's yours .

Where did you find the tello $6 plan? I can't find it on their site
It's a custom plan. If you buy the $5 500MB data only plan, you won't even pay taxes. https://tello.com/buy/custom_plans

On the surface this appears to be a great deal. But, look up the reviews of the Google Fi service. Their customer service is the worst in the industry. I tried to take advantage of a similar promotion on the s22. It took Google more than two weeks to ship the phone. Then the phone somehow got lost in transit. Google tried to charge me for the service. They would not ship a replacement phone. So, basically I was out $300 (promotion price at the time) Plus the cost of one month worth of service, which I never received because I never activated the Fi service since I didn't have the phone. After several attempts to get this cleared out with Google, I learned that they are totally useless when it comes to customer service. I thought disputing the charge with my credit company would get Google to take action. They still did nothing. My credit card company reversed to the charges back to Google. Beware. Any company but Google Fi.

Yes, it works.
Did you get physical sim or esim? Do we get the phone number immediately if it's physical sim and use it immediately for this promo?

We have a week or so till stuff start shipping out so you have time to order a sim to get to you in time. You don't need the number to pay for the promo...just enter any cell number when ordering then change it to the real number you're porting later on.
