Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

For those wondering about if a Google Voice number will work. It will work per the Google Fi page.

This page is available once you place your order.

See this page

https://fi.google.com/account?fam...sfernumber

Then click on the Frequently Asked Questions.

You can keep your phone number when you switch to Google Fi. Mobile, landline, and Google Voice numbers are welcome.

You start the process when you sign up for Google Fi.

Learn how to transfer your number.

On your device, activate your Google Fi service.
Important: Do not cancel your current phone service before you complete the transfer to Fi. For the transfer to work, the number must be active. You can still use your old carrier until your transfer completes.
In the Google Fi app, follow the on-screen instructions.
Be ready to give account info from your current carrier.
Once your transfer's done, you should get a notification on your Google Fi phone.
Mobile numbers usually transfer within 24 hours.
Google Voice numbers usually transfer within 24 hours.
Landlines usually transfer within 3 business days.

Did you ever post a screenshot? I skimmed through the pages around your first post and recent posts from your profile, but didn't see it. The thread is very long or I'd find it myself.

I don't remember seeing any disclaimer when I went through the order process.

They want you to use their service, so they're incentivizing you. They probably also count on some people failing to meet the terms, because of careless or misreading the terms.
There's no bait and switch.

Right above it states:
"...Numbers ported in must be from carriers that have calling, voice and data services. Fi-to-Fi number transfers are not eligible."
AND:
"If Fi determines that this offer is used in connection with abuse, misuse, or fraud, or if the account used to purchase the phone is not in good standing, the discounted amount will be charged to your Google Pay account."

As the old saying goes:
IF there is some reasonable doubt, there is no doubt!

give it a rest already, no one has had their deal canceled because they used a GV # to port. Google Fi knows the number is a GV # and still ships out the phone under the pretense of this deal they will have to honor it. Otherwise it is fraud and there a ton of lawyers who are ever watchful for an opportunity to sue deep pockets.

My friend, just responding to help here.

No one has had their deal canceled here because they used a GV # to port, because NO ONE has had the chance yet to submit an ACTUAL PORT # for this SPECIFIC DEAL.
That time is coming in a couple of weeks!!!

But, as I said before, everyone has different comfort levels of risk.
Everyone here is free to bet on red or black with their $500 or $600!!!

You seem to be very strongly convinced GV won't work but do you have any actual proof? I won't risk it and will get a Tello number for 5 bucks but still, considering there hasn't been a single instance of GV not working in past promos that had the SAME language and tons of examples of it working, curious why you are so convinced it won't work this time?

Again, this language was present on past deals and GV worked and there was even proof of that in the early pages of the thread where someone posted screen shots of the deal language where GV number worked.

The S23 Ultra is not arriving until March. My Mint is set to expire in a week. I'm thinking of porting my number over to Tello for a bit until the phone arrives for me to port over to Google Fi. Does this sound ok? Appreciate any other suggestions or experience doing something like this.
Dude just buy another month of Mint.

Exactly! And many of us have done Fi deals by porting in a GV.

FYI for any who are crying like a baby about the shipping delays:

I can't recall 2 years ago when the s21 came out, but I remember last year, samsung was late in shipping some phones to people who ordered in Feb.

Many complained that their phones arrived in March and April.

I vaguely recall some people who ordered from Best Buy had their orders canceled, even though they were willing to wait for the phones.

So sure, many people want their phones ASAP, and want google fits estimates to be accurate -- but the reality is they probably are overwhelmed with orders (as to why some days have shown out of stock).

Maybe they shouldn't accept new orders, but that's not my call.

If anyone is unhappy or can't wait, why not cancel your order and purchase elsewhere?

Crying and complaining here or to google fi CSR is likely futile.

The problem is that you are confusing folks. Clearly you're skeptical about the GV port-in, which is totally fine, and this post above has the right tone. But then you have other posts where you're categorically saying that this "WILL NOT WORK," or it's "proven" that it won't work - which isn't supported at all, and is misleading.

You've made your point many times already - don't think it needs to be made anymore.
