Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

How do you plan to use the phone with other Google Fi account? Where does the SIM come from?

I switched from ATT to Google Fi in Atlanta for the s22 deal. After living with the phone for several months now, there are issues/differences that I do not like.

Voicemail, its odd that you have to click on the vm and then wait for it to be downloaded to hear or read it. ATT didn't do that, it was instant

Service. Coverage doesnt seem to be as good overall in the areas I drive/live (ITP for those that know the area)

Lastly, missed calls/text. I can have full signal and will not receive calls or text nor do I get a notice that I missed the call and never receive the text. It appears to be random and makes me wonder if it is a service issue or device though it works perfectly 95% of the time. No biggie for me but the girlfriend is developing issues thinking I am just not returning her calls etc. So I have to remind her to text me or send a email if she cant reach me. Sometimes it requires me to restart the phone when it happens for a few hours. Reaching out to tech has been less than easy.

I will be switching back to a deal with ATT or someone else in the next month or two.
What's your Google Fi plan rate and how much are you paying in taxes and fees in addition? I can't find this information online for GA. Thanks

I get that we should not insert the Google Fi sim in another phone, keep the Fi account active and we can use the phone with other carriers. Can we use the phone with other Google Fi account? Anyone has experience with this scenario.
That's a very interesting query!
Because some MVNOs marry a phone's IMEI with the MVNO's Sim ICCD #.
Does Google Fi do that???
Tracfone, for one, does!
I think Metro PCS - Metro by T-Mo - also does it.
And some charge a device change fee to change it.
Not sure about T-Mo itself.

Verizon just sends an email if you do it.

I think Fi does, hence the advice not to use a Fi SIM in a phone other than the phone it came with. In the S22 thread, someone who put his S22 SIM into another phone got the message/email "Don't lose your promotion. Put the SIM back into its original phone" (or similar wording).

Imei probably matters if you do esim - I know mint if you order from online they require imei but normally you just pop in sim and imei doesn't matter unless blacklisted.

Hi! Thanks for the awesome deal. I ordered the $5 HelloMobile simkit. I'm assuming I should activate it on another phone? And once I successfully port it over to Google Fi, I can disable the Hellomobile $5 per month? First time porting a number, thanks a lot everyone Big Grin!
I don't think you need to activate it on any phone before you port it over.

Phone number and account number are on the Hello Mobile site. PIN is last 4 digits of phone number.

Please let me know if I'm wrong because I have the same SIM kit.

That makes sense since it has been repeatedly posted here that when you remove the Google Fi Sim from the S23, to just store it somewhere and NOT to insert it in ANY other device.
Then you can use the S23 with another cell provider's Sim.
BUT
Does the same apply to the S23 phone IF you use it with another Google Fi Sim, given that this Google Fi Sim is NOT RESTRICTED by being attached to another Google Fi promotion?

In any case, IF IN DOUBT, don't do it, until the promotion is over and you got the $$$$.

That's why I asked the person who posed that question how he plans to use the S23 with another Fi account. Where does the other Fi SIM come from? If the other Fi SIM is from a Fi phone on a promotion, that will screw up the other phone's promotion. Besides that, I don't know if it's allowed to have the S23's IMEI tied to two active Fi SIMs.

Some have and others have chosen the safe normal port route.
It depends on one's tolerance level with risking the $500 or $600.
In about 4 months we'll know since shipments have started.
But it all comes down to the question Dirty Harry once asked:
Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
