Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Is it too late to jump on this deal?

As I understand the steps are

1. Order hello mobile Sim for 5 dollars
2. While it's shipping, get s23 ultra as new user on Google fi
3. Add your current phone number to order in step 2 until Sim arrives
4. When Sim arrives replace number in Google fi account so port happens when device arrives
5. When device arrives initiate port? And then remove Sim and use your old Sim while keeping hello/Google ported Sim in drawer for 120 days
6. Cancel Google fi plan

Did I miss something? And is it too late to order on 16th both hello Sim and phone ?
how to get hellomobile for $5? it says $10 on their website for basic plan

Have you clicked the link in the original email they sent you? The email has a later date than the website link by a week or more.
My original email showed a date of
Delivers Feb 24 - Feb 27
but any link I click to view/edit the order now shows Delivers Mar 2 - Mar 8

When you cancelled the order did u see the rebate didn't work out info in the account? See the attached screen shots. Maybe things got screwed because I cancelled the first one and then ordered the 2nd one? As mentioned above, there was no request for number transfer when I placed the 2nd one. I assumed it is tied to the Fi plan and number transfer already pending. Should I just cancel the 2nd order and try it with a different account? I don't want to take a chance. Thanks
I once cancelled an order for a Fi S22 because the trade-in wasn't included in the order. A few days later, I did get an email/message about the rebate didn't work out. I abandoned that account and placed a new order with another account.

If you're going to cancel your 2nd order and use a new account to place a new order, do it quickly because the pre-order promotion ends at midnight CA time today 2/16. If you have a trade-in, the values have dropped significantly. You can reuse the ref code you used before. The port-in number can be entered during ordering and verified that it's eligible. But you can log into your FI account after ordering and update the port-in number/account info up to the moment you're about to activate the S23.

Screenshots below shows where you can enter (Get Ready Now) or update (Update Info) the port-in number/info.

I cancelled my 2nd order as well. Is there a way to cancel Fi service? Or since I never activated the service, I don't need to do anything. I don't want Fi to bill me anything later on.

Yeah I did see the same thing. Rebate was cancelled on the first order, and I think that caused the message to auto generate.

Thanks a lot. How do I cancel Fi service? There is a poster on reddit that reported he was charged for Fi service even when he didn't activate the service. He bought GP6a and then returned it in a week. I don't see anywhere an option to cancel service.

Thanks. Were you charged for any Fi plan on the account you cancelled the order? Did u have to cancel the Fi service? Or since it was never active, u didn't have to? Thanks

I called them to make sure all was good, and they told me it was set up correctly. I think it will be ok as is.

Log into your Fi account on a computer, click on Account-->Your Plan, scroll down to where it shows Actions. If there's an entry for Leave Google Fi, click on it and follow the steps to Cancel Fi service. If there's no option for Leave Google Fi, then you don't currently have Fi service.

Just a word of Caution! I just did a Fi S22+ deal followed by the P7P deal.. So I was an existing customer.. I still had a week left on my 22+ deal when I received my P7P.. I opened it up and transferred my data over to it. Not intending to to activate it..Just use the camera and wifi test it. However, the Fi app transfered and I made the mistake of signing in. Even though I never moved the Sim, it activated. I got the message that I was in violation of my previous deal.. If I deactivated the new one. I would be again in violation of that.. I called them up and took a lot of sorting, but because I didn't remove the physical Sim.. They fixed it for me on both phones .. But I think they really wanted to make it tough..
If you have more days left on a promo, be careful.
The signing into Fi from the P7P is what did you in. I did the P7 60-day promo on BF and all was well until I mistakenly signed in to the same account on my iPhone. The promo countdown stopped for two days and restarted when I signed into the P7 again. The P7 had the physical Fi sim in the entire time.

Thanks. I only see switch plan or add a person option. No option to leave Fi. So I assume I won't be charged. Did u have the same options? So porting info and all that will drop off soon? Thanks

Thanks. Fi reps are not very competent (I am sure there are some, but not the case with most of them). So I don't want to trust them as there is no accountability.

Thanks for all the feedback.
