Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I am doing this, but haven't received my phone number. How long will that take so I can order the phone?
You can place the order now and use any cell phone number, as you can always change the phone number which you will be porting. Simply go into your Google fi account when you have the new number and put that in there as the new port number. You will also be able to add your account number and porting pin.

I received my hello mobile cell phone number when the Sim card shipped. I just signed into my account, and bam the phone number was there.

I ordered my S23 as an existing member, transferring service from my active S22 (which had its number ported in from GV). Was planning to order two more S23's with port-in from GV numbers, but the trade-in value of iPhone11 got dropped from $310 down to $85, so I'm not going to order more.

For those who are porting to fi using hello mobile, apparently hello mobile has some sim port protection so my first attempt to transfer with fi got failed. I then called hello mobile support and got the sim port protection removed and then the number got transferred to fi successfully.

The number gets generated within a day or so which you can find it on your account. When the sim card arrives, you have the option to either use the generated number or to port your existing number.

Thanks. I ordered using my GV# for now, but will change it to the other hello mobile one when I get the phone. So, with that, all I need to do is activate the phone on the Google VI plan, make sure it works, then pull the sim card out, put it away, and never touch it again till its past 120 days, and then turn google fi off. And insert my tmobile card or activate esim right after taking the fi card out after vertifying it works.

I am in San Antonio, TX and ordered the black 512 Ultra.

Do you have to stick the Hello Mobile SIM in a phone and activate it before you can port the number over to Fi?

Once you've activated the S23, give it 24 hrs then log into your Fi account, click on Billing-->Fi Savings-->In Progress and it'll show a checklist of required tasks, with checkmarks on the ones completed. There's also a countdown of how many more days you have to stay on Fi.

On the 121st day, the promo discount is moved from the In Progress column to the Earned column. At that point, it's safe to cancel your Fi service without losing your promo discount. In your Fi account, click on Account-->Your Plan, scroll down until you see Leave Fi. Click on it and follow the process to cancel your Fi service.

So the s23 phone haves to be in service with the Fi sim card or do I need to put another sim card? I read people saying that you should not put the fi sim card in phone. or maybe is to not put the fi sim card in other phone or what is it
