Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Well at this point with the deal being expired what difference does it make? Are you wanting to keep the thread unclogged so that the lazy people can keep asking the same questions over and over? That's what clogs the thread btw.
No, I think the thread should include useful info on what people think of the new devices, case recommendations, etc.

You are correct that people clog the thread with useless questions that have bene answered ad nauseum. I just ignore those now.

Just to follow up here regarding Hello Mobile and their SIM Port Protection block. I was able to chat with a Hello Mobile agent who successfully disabled that block so I should be able to successfully port out from Hello Mobile to Google Fi without any issues on the first attempt.

Important info for anyone using the $5 Hello line to port-out to Fi.

Nice, I sold my 128gb s22u for $600 locally - i know I got lucky on the price - most ppl were offering me like $400, which I definitely was passing on.
I would expect S22U prices on the used market should go up now, since there is no way to get an S23U for around $700ish with the Google Fi deal + 120 days of service now that the Google Fi deal is expired.

Waiting for my S23U to come in before I start putting up my current 512GB S22U for sale. I wonder how much I can get for it.

To be clear, do you mind confirming your step-by-step process? I assume you activated your Hello service, proceeded with port-out via Google Fi, and found out it was blocked. How long did it take before you were notified of the port-out failure? Did you call the main Hello mobile customer line to find out it was blocked? What was your turnaround time once you removed the Port Protection system and successful Port Out with Google Fi?

Sorry if I'm bombarding you with questions. Just need more data points to fill in the missing gaps. Thanks in advance!
I first put in the SIM Card from Hello Mobile into my old phone while it was turned off. When I turned my phone back on and got passed the screen lock, it told me there's a new SIM and I needed to restart to connect to the new network. I restarted my phone again and it connected to Hello Mobile on its own. I called and texted a family member's phone that I had on hand, which went through and showed the phone number on my Hello Mobile account.

Then I turned on my new S23U and started the phone set-up process. I installed the Google Fi app as requested, logged in to the Google account that bought the phone, and there's an option for the number transfer. I entered in the requested Hello Mobile account information and used the last 4-digits of the Hello Mobile phone number as the PIN and submitted it. Less than a minute later I got a notification on the S23U saying the number could not be transferred. I tried a few more times later in the day with the same result, which is when I made my post about it not working.

I called Hello Mobile today using the Hello Mobile SIM in question because it was already passed the time their website listed they had Customer Representatives on their Phone support last night. The automated menu automatically recognized my account, said it detected that a number transfer request was made for my line and if that was the reason that I was calling. I picked the right prompt, it told me that porting would cancel my account and if I still wanted to remove the protection to allow it. I selected that I did, the automated response said it was done and I could hang up. At no point did I have to speak to a human being, so I probably could've done this the night before.

I went to my S23U right afterwards and did the number transfer again, without changing anything (it gives you the option to change the PIN on a failed attempt or to start over; I just picked the change PIN option and didn't actually change it), and about a minute later, the Fi app did a push notification that my number was now active on Fi. I can make calls and texts with the S23U on the Fi network that show the Hello Mobile number.

The Fi Savings tracker still lists the number transfer as incomplete, but I contacted Fi support and they said it was done correctly and satisfies the promo, but it can take 24 hours to update. So for now I'm leaving the Fi SIM in the S23U and still using my old service on my old phone.

How soon does the fi counter update after number transfer? Nervous as I am doing this for the first time. 😅

also some people were saying these are dual sim but they are not. only one sim slot is there.

I got my phone yesterday & activated with Fi last night, this morning it shows "Activated the device on Feb 17" and "Stay active on Fi for 120 more days" on my Fi Savings page ("In progress" tab).

Disabled mobile data before activation and activated on wifi still shows I used some data. Looks like will have to eat an additional $10.

PS: Ported GV number. Activation and port succesful but waiting on Fi saving progress bar to update. Fingers crossed!
Google Voice worked out. Progress bar at "Stay active on Fi for 119 more days."

It usually takes up to 24 hrs for the port-in and activation to be checkmarked, and for the countdown to start. With my several Fi accounts, the countdown seems to be updated every 24 hrs from when a given account was activated. Most of my accounts were activated around 5pm because that's when the FedEx truck comes to my neighborhood, those are updated around 5pm each day. One account was activated at 10am, and that's when THAT ACCOUNT is updated each day.

The Fi S23 series have one physical SIM and one eSIM.

Thank you. So at once we can add both a physical and esim? If that is the case then no issues at all. 😀
