Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Fedex stole my phone on trade in with Samsung last year.

Received Empty box:

Ordered S23ultra. Today received package delivered by Fedex, but there was no phone inside the package. I reciced only Empty Box. Contacted Helpdesk of Google fi. They said they will send one more phone.

Surprisingly, the weight mentioned on package was 1 lb. It should be atleast 2lb. I dont know whether, it is fault from Google fi side or FedEx.

Pls make sure to check weight of shipment in tracking details and also make sure to record full video while opening package.

Anybody has similar experiences?

I am currently using Fi esim in my Verizon work S22 Ultra. The physical Sim is Verizon. When I get my S23 Ultra, I plan on moving my esim to S23 Ultra and then pop my physical Verizon sim in there. Has anyone tried this? Any concerns with the promo being fulfilled this way?
There should not be any problem as long as you start with s23u first and activate the esim (transferring the number in the process). See my previous post about using FI with esim but given that you are already using esim on s22u I assume you already know how to do that. Also just to be safe I'd make sure the activation is recorded and the countdown timer has started in your FI account before putting the Verizon sim in.

It was last I used it. I just put the sim in my ipad pro, and reset the network, and it pulled lte and was able to go to a webpage. It shows active on hello page now. I assume that worked without a phone call. I pulled it out and put it away now till I get the s23 ultra.

I had two s22+ and two fold 4 with my previous promo. Now, I'm waiting for my two s23 ultras with my new account.

It use to be. Seems it got relocked at some point. Its been used on tmobile before and AT&T. It's a spare anyways. At least the iPad seemed to work.

You may be able to activate it via Hello Mobile customer support. One person in an earlier post ported out through the automated system, but it wasn't clear if they activated the sim in a phone first.

Thanks for your reply.
1) Per your suggestion (making acct A the group owner and acct B as a member) does acct A need to create a group first, then send B an invitation to join? The group plan tutorial you linked to uses an example of inviting a person who doesn't have Fi service yet. In my case, acct B already has Fi service (currently paused, but I can unpause if needed). With B already a Fi member, is that going to be a problem.?
2) The promo terms say "Pausing, changing, or suspending the account will void the promotion". Is changing account A's plan from single user to a group plan considered "changing account"? I was thinking "changing account" means moving your Fi phone from one account to another account. If changing the plan is considered an account change, then I will scrub the idea. I don't want to risk acct A's current S23 promo.
1) Inviting a member->Member accepts invitation->Group formed.
Inviting a member & forming a group is kind of simultaneous. Fi just words it weirdly because again they are wording it for A & B being new users. A group is not formed until the invited member accepts the invitation to be added to the group. Fi treats each acct as a separate individual even if they might have same name, addresses etc.

I doubt B's account status matters because it's paused and someone on this thread mentioned adding an existing user.
My only caveat is making account A with the existing promo a group member because the system might detect it as an account change.
Making A group owner is different because it is an active acct inviting a passive account. Existing Fi accounts can become group members, per Fi CS over the phone.

2) I have no idea what "changing the account" means under promo terms. I'm sure if you speak/chat with different Fi CS, each one will have a different answer.

I have done this deal by ordering from account A, then going to manage plan->add person->enter B's email-> select phone they will use (buy new or BYOD)->compare checkout & make sure promo shows up.
Promo for A & B will show up under account A.
The 180 day requirement for account B will kick in depending on it's last day of service. So you can use existing number or port in new number depending on the 180 day requirement.

Do you happen to know if the owner can safely pause their main line without affecting the other line's promotions?

It's set up like this

Main - 120 counter done
Line 2 - 20 days left
Line 3 - 25 days left

Can I successfully pause the main one and keep those others counting down? I'm scared because all those show under the main line's tracker and I don't know if it will mess things up. I didn't feel like paying another $30 with taxes for the main line that's done.
Playing with fire here, $500 off promo per line so $1000 chargeback or $30 of service.

Main account is the group owner. I'm guessing if you pause main account then all lines are paused.
