Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

On the Google Fi website sidebar, click Account dropdown > Person Name (or Your Group Plan). Then in the main section, the IMEI should pop-up once you click on the device name under Devices.

I bought one for a family member and received it today. Should I just log in and activate the phone under my Google account. Then reset the phone and allow my family member to log in under their Google account?

Again, I'm not pushing/persuading anyone to use GV to port in. I only posted my experience of successfully using GV for port in. People can follow my examples or not, doesn't make any difference to me.I did not make any negative comments when people didn't use GV to port in. My beef is with people who posted warnings of failure with no proof . END OF DISCUSSION.
Butb8ts just that - A WARNING. People can take from it what they want. It's a valid warning because the technical terms state GV numbers as not being valid. No one is saying with authority that it won't work, just that you're running a risk, and a risk to save what, $3?!

If you and the other posters who have doubts about using GV for this promo want to wait 120 days before admitting that you're wrong, I can wait. Make sure to come back here after 120 days and see if there are any posts from people who got their promo disqualified for using GV to port in.
You sound like such a sad, petty, and pathetic person to be so obsessed with porting with GV #s.

This person seems to take it personally if others don't listen to them and follow what they did.

Seems so arrogant, obstinate, and closed minded to dismis others who dont want to risk it.

Imagine someone saying they got away with not wearing a seat belt or helmet, or didn't buy car/home/fire/earthquake/tornado insurance, and therefore others are foolish to do so.

Such hubris.

Yes after making sure activation went through and counterdown timer has decreased by a day or so. Also you want to activate it using FI physical SIM as wiping the phone would wipe the eSIM as well. Dont put that FI SIM in any other phone.

This. I mean, yeah GV most likely works, but why risk $600 over a few bucks?!

Want us naysayers to say "we were wrong?" OK, I mean, I guess you can have that. Just seems odd to me, but whatever...
Yeah I know asking people to admit that they were wrong seems pretty childish on here, not everyone has the same education and or life experiences so I get it. The fine print of this deal is what it is, so if at any time in the next 120 days google chooses to enforce their terms unfortunately some people on here will be out $600 all because they wanted to save less than five bucks.

And yes I've seen those who have a chat transcript and feel confident, good luck holding google to that! laugh out loud

Mine shipped today, S23U black ordered on 2/12. They charged the card this morning, went from prepared to ship to shipped quickly in the morning, being shipped from IL to CA on UPS. Delivery estimate is 2/27-2/28. The lookup on IMEI in FI account shows S23U.
