Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

What the hell. My phone's been sitting at the fulfillment center for the past 36 hours at the local fulfillment center and still hasn't been picked up by FedEx for delivery. What's the holdup? I have half a mind to hop in my car and just drive to the fulfilment center in Rancho Cucamonga since I don't live that far away from it and just pick up my damn phone in person rather than wait for FedEx to get their asses into gear and actually pick up the package for delivery.

Mine shipped today, S23U black ordered on 2/12. They charged the card this morning, went from prepared to ship to shipped quickly in the morning, being shipped from IL to CA on UPS. Delivery estimate is 2/27-2/28. The lookup on IMEI in FI account shows S23U.
While my s23u black order is getting shipped from ca to NY today. Truly mind boggling.

Let it go dude, 3 posts in a row. You guys are wrong, GV is not a risk until you show one piece of evidence that it is...aka one denial on this deal or past deals.

The terms of the deal are clearly posted, if you chose not to read them and abide it is your choice. There are just as many posts from others on here who had a chat with Google about this and was told that a GV number is not valid for this deal.

If you want to take the chance of saving less than five bucks, that is your right to choose. I choose to abide by the terms of this deal, just as I do all laws, contracts, etc. as that is how I was raised and taught.

Did you also order on 2/12? I'm guessing that's what google decided to "show" them in stock no matter what and later choose a place to ship them from. Hence, orders are shipping from all over.

My order was from 2/4. What you say makes sense.

That's fine but each person is preaching it like gospel. There still has been no proof of denial ever mentioned, these terms have been the same on past pixel deals. It's Slickdeals, everyone is trying to save the last penny so it should be know that there isn't one case of denial for GV but if you still want to not risk it, spend 5 bucks on Tello.

My beef is with people who posted warnings of failure with no proof . END OF DISCUSSION.
There is an old saying:
"There is always a first time for everything".

Those people who posted warnings of failure with no proof, that you and several others have a beef with, just didn't want to be amongst the first to offer that "proof of failure", and be out of the $600 or $500, and be the sacrificial lambs!

Especially when the deal's T&C clearly state those warnings and there were other posts here quoting Google Fi CS chats stating that GV #s did not qualify.

Most people here did not have the past experience you have with Google Fi not following thru with its T&C, and just wanted to play this deal safe, considering the $$$$ to lose and the pennies to gain.

Most likely, Google Fi will pay the cash credit after the 120 days regardless if one used a GV # or a NumbersBarn # to port in, BUT strictly speaking Google Fi has a proper and legal reason to take action according to its T&C to deny the cash credit to those port ins before they qualify as a paid credit.

Another thought that applies here:
"Penny wise and pound foolish".

Google Fi is aware of people subscribing and then cancelling out on these deals, and that's why the cancel period was increased from 30 days to 120 days and 4 months from now when they see a couple of hundred thousand people cancelling, that period will probably increase to 180 or 360 days or more for the next "deal".

The major cell providers learned this lesson and increased their retain periods.
For instance, Verizon went from 6 months to a year and now 3 years before a customer is not liable to being charged for any up front gift card rebates.
Similarly with T-Mobile.

See this Verizon thread started a couple of years ago that for some strange reason is still under Hot Deals even though it's now dead:

I would ask the neighbors, last time i order a phone from metro, UPS marked it as delivered, went outside and couldn't find it, it was already dark outside and UPS messed up and delivered to my next door neighbor, good thing the neighbor checked the name and saw me outside while I was searching, he called me and gave me the package

All sorts of things happen with shipping. One of my order sat half a day, from evening to morning, before being picked up by FedEx. Another order got misrouted from CA to MN destined for OR. Delivery was delayed two days. Unfortunately, delays for all sorts of reasons happen. Be patient and good luck!

This person seems to take it personally if others don't listen to them and follow what they did.

Seems so arrogant, obstinate, and closed minded to dismis others who dont want to risk it.

Imagine someone saying they got away with not wearing a seat belt or helmet, or didn't buy car/home/fire/earthquake/tornado insurance, and therefore others are foolish to do so.

Such hubris.
And very unfortunate.

Hey folks. I see a lot of recent posts debating the validity of using a GV number for the port-in. I do not want to use GV, so is there a reliable and confirmed carrier to use for getting a number and porting it in?

I saw some posts mentioning Boost and Tello. Are they the reliable routes and is it ok to get the cheapest plan with them (I see a $15/mo plan with Boost and a 100min/500mb plan with Tello for $6)?
