Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Nope, my countdown hasn't started, and my account doesn't reflect that a number has been transferred either. My understanding is that the progress boxes take a day to reflect those changes. For now, my account thinks I'm on step 2 still.
Does the countdown depend on the port-in or just activation is enough to get it started? This stupid boostmobile company has been down for days so I can't get my pin.

can I activate now and complete port in a few days?

After I port the number over and remove the fi SIM card, do I need to reset the phone or am I good to put in my Verizon SIM card in afterwards?

One member said you CAN activate with the temp number Fi assigned to the phone and port in later. One member said a rep told him No. I've never done that, so don't know the definite answer.

If you still have plenty of time to activate (30 days from "shipped" email), I suggest you wait. Activating late will delay your completion date, but it's better than losing your promo.

Since you are a new Fi customer, the countdown starts from the day you portin.

Fi says you can portin with 30 days, so I guess you can activate and portin later (within 30 days). But if you can wait, the safest way is to do portin & activation at the same time.

Countdown says 119 days left.

Do I

- Remove Fi Sim, use my T-mobile sim
- Keep Fi Sim, and use eSIM offered by T-mobile.
- Then switch eSIM -> Phsyical Nano SIM after 4 months?
- Keep Fi Sim, and use eSIM offered by T-mobile.

I tried to do this option but got dreadful "looks familiar" page.
Here's what I am doing for dual SIM setup with Google Voice (my main number is in Google Voice)

Voice: Fi Sim as secondary. Data: Tello as Primary.

1. Keep Fi SIM. Added ESIM (Tello)
2. Use ESIM as primary as Samsung is not allowing data from secondary SIM (as always on).
3. Setup Google voice number forwarding to secondary SIM. Swap samsung Phone app with Google phone app to use FI SIM as main voice account (and choose SIM 1 as main calling account. Samsung phone won't allow this).
4. Google FI won't do conditional forwarding. I'll use FI visual voicemail.

You don't need to reset the phone, but I'd uninstall the Fi app.

Any pointers to good screen protector for s23 ultra? Also need a case. Pls suggest
Amfilm uv screen protector. Kind of tricky to install, be sure to tape your speaker holes if you do. They'd send you another one for free if you mess your install up

I second amfilm. I have used it for my s22u. I had a minor issue with the uv light equipment, they refunded the whole thing or offered to send a new one. I have read that the s23u is a bit tricky to install, but I have bought it and waiting to install it when I get the phone.

Update from my earlier post - My account now reflects that I activated the device on Feb 24 (accurate) and that I transferred a number to Fi. I'm on Step #5 which says "Stay active on Fi for 120 more days," and my understanding is that it should start to count down for me tomorrow.

I believe the count down depends on port-in date. I'm a little curious as to what you mean about Boost being down though. I ported in using a Boost Mobile number from E-bay just last night, so it doesn't seem like a global outage. Lastly, I'm pretty sure you can activate on Google Fi now and Port In later. Your account status will have a bullet-point of items you need to fulfill for the offer, and as you accomplish each step, the bullet points will change to check marks (though, the check marks may take a day to show up). So, if you wanted to activate now and port in later, then you should be good. The process on the phone happens in two distinct parts - 1.) You turn on the new phone, get connected, activate it, etc... and 2.) You have to manually download Google Fi on the new phone to then initiate the Port-In process. So, there needs to be some leniency in the process to accommodate those two steps.

Can you use eSIM as primary to handle all incoming and outgoing calls text data?
