Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Apparently I used 0.01 GB of data when setting the phone up and now I will be charged for it (Using the $20 plan). Anyone know how much that would cost? 😅

That's 1% of a GB. It's prorated, so about $0.10. Mine shows 7MB (0.007 GB) which is 7 cents. Sometimes they won't bother charging you for that amount.

Hi, I bought the phone on a gmail account, but now want to activate it as part of a group plan on another gmail account. I am porting a number and intend to use the phone and the number. Can I activate it on another gmail account? Will it mess up the promotion? please post your thoughts. Thanks.
I don't believe this is a customer service line

I have T-Mo on the eSIM and transferred everything from my old phone. The Fi Sim is still in the slot but I turned it off. So far the countdown timer is still going.
Is there a reason to turn it off?

Ahhh OK. Thanks for the info/correction. I was going to go the ESIM route too, but now that I see how much of a stickler they are, will just keep the service off the phone completely.

No particular reason but I just don't want to make sure I don't accidentally use the data. I'm aware there is a setting to use data with the primary Sim but I'm just taking precautions to avoid it as much as possible.

I turned off the data *technically paused indefinitely* from the fi account. I have a 4 user group plan and have all data turned off.

My counter says 119 days remaining later this week I'm just going to remove the fi Sims.

But this will prevent any additional data charges until then.

Make sure that turning the data off from the plan does not void the promo terms which says pausing/changing/cancelling plan would do that. I'd rather turn the data off on the phone settings.

Carol Springs, IL in the house!! Fedex just left it at the door. S23u Green ordered 2/16.
CRAY CRAY though transferring over # from Verizon and Fi says it can take up to two days.
EDIT: now it says i cant transfer as my pin is wrong but it isnt. i am calling verizon now.
EDIT EDIT: Verizon gave me a new pin and transfer took T E N seconds!

I also declined to use calling over wifi and location something for better signal do I lose the promo?

Finally, once the counter starts down for a few days can I remove fi sim and pop in a different sim from my verizon account, pay the bill to Fi for 121, pass go and collect $600?

Thanks!

I turned off mobile data.
But I noticed that APN setting for Fi Sim is blank on S23U.
Does it work without APN ?

I wish I got a dollar for every time that question was asked and answered in the last few days.

I'm using my Fi base S23 with a Tracfone SIM. With Data turned off, in Settings-->Connections-->Mobile networks-->Access Point Names I can see the APN parameters.

I'm currently on Galaxy s20 for couple of years and it does not have the APN as well. I think it's baked into the OS somehow.

You should always activate it on the account you ordered the phone. This is a question for CS rep and that too make sure to save the chat etc as different reps have conflicting take on this.
