Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

When I ported Tello, I had to create a new pin before I could get my account number. I used that pin to port not the 0000.

In your tello account, keep the address simple without the apartment number. Also make sure you keep just one name in the first name field. I had the same problem when I had 2 names in the first name field and apartment number in the address line 2. Cleaned up the name and address then used 0000 as pin. It went through finally.

I'm already on Fi and just got my S23U. How do I activate on an existing line with Fi?

I'm scared of turning on the S23U, activating and getting a new number and messing things up.

When you turn on and activate it through Fi app, it will automatically detect your number if you use your Fi Google account to login to the app. It will show the number before you proceed to activate in the new device

Thanks Fedex. Seems they got delayed enough to miss the next jump and its stuck in Cypress, TX. Now it won't be delivered till Friday when I have to be gone for part of the day. Ugh. Hopefully I can get back by the timeframe they will deliver.

They have always carried discounted phones for outright purchase by keeping Fi service between 30-120 days (depending on the deal).

Maybe other carriers forced Fi to change their deal terms. Fi is a glorified MVNO after all.

I just transferred my number from visible to Google Fi this morning, in one of the tab Don't lose your promotion said I am currently not qualified for the $600 discount ,please help

Is it still the case that, as long as you do not put the Fi simcard into another phone, there is no issue with the promo? I want to use this S23 Ultra on my tmobile using the physical sim card (not eSIM)

Did you read the thread? All the information is here.

1. Did you activate the phone with Google Fi when you first got it?
2. Did you leave it activated for 24 hours with sim card installed from Goggle FI?
3. Did you remove the Google Fi SIM after 24 hours, and insert yours and reset the device?
4. As long as you did not reinsert the FI sim into another device other than the device it came in, you are fine. It can take up to 2 days for it to show the countdown on FI site.

So FedEx just reported a delivery exception (damaged) on my phone and automatically returned it to GoogleFi…now GoogleFi wants to issue me a refund but I want the phone. They told me to place another order (and promo is dead). Really ridiculous, I ordered 2/3 and still haven't received the phone worst yet, now I won't even get the phone at the promo rate??? Really frustrating

Need more details or screenshots.
1. Which item that Fi says is not meeting the requirement?
2. Which item in the checklist has a yellow exclamation mark next to it? (Log into your Fi account using a computer, click on Billing-->Fi Savings-->In Progress).
3. Did you activate the phone using the Fi app on the phone AND log into the same Google account that ordered the phone?

Just to confirm, do I need to leave Fi SIM in new S23 for 24 hours after number transfer is successful? or is that a myth?
