Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Also traded in my phond (iPhone 11 64gb) and judt got an email that my trade phone arrived at their location.

I bought two phones, the base S23 with this trade in and the Ultra without the trade in. I should have done it the other way around, urgh.

Received $310 iPhone 11 trade-in credit today ($299.99 refund and $10.01 Fi credit). Overall a smooth process. (The number Fi assigned got a lot of spam calls. Was going to change it by porting a number but changing 'spam and contact settings' to contact only fixed it. I don't use the Fi number anyway.)

Just an FYI for anyone who cares about data usage, beware that the S23 (all models) has a problem with Wi-Fi6 where it will randomly drop your wifi signal despite the signal being ok. So if you are using a lot of wifi data, you might be surprised to see your cell data usage go way up if you don't catch that the s23 dropped the wifi signal.

Easy fix right now is to turn wifi off and then on for the phone to get your signal back or to disable WiFi6 altogether from your router...until Samsung/Android or whoever rolls out an updated fix.

Won't be an issue for me. I don't keep Data turned on with my phones. So even if the S23 drops WiFi, it won't be able to use Data without me knowing about it.

Sent my trade in last week (iPhone 11 64gb), USPS showed that it was delivered last Thursday. Got the email confirmation earlier today that it was received then 4 hours later got another email about the $310 credit to my Paypal account. I'm really glad I got in on this deal, thanks again OP!!

A reset is not required. The Fi app is only needed to activate the phone. It MIGHT report things to Fi when you're online. So why keep "Big Brother" installed? Also, someone in another S23 thread said " if you have both Fi and other SIM active, Fi app seems to be taking over and making it as primary SIM, so better to uninstall irrespective of keep Fi SIM or not".

I ended up opening an incident with fi support. It took 6 days for them to resolve the issue with porting - for some reason at the fi end, it was being told that all the port info I entered was incorrect. At the Hello Mobile end, they said that they weren't receiving a port request at all.

Support at fi also said that they were seeing a SIM card error on my phone, which a reseat and software updates didn't fix. They said that they could send me a new card (which could take 7 to 10 days to arrive), or I could go get one at Best Buy/Target etc. (and I'd get a $10 credit for purchasing it). I did that, they made some changes on the back end, and boom, the number port process took less than 30 seconds.

On the plus side of all this messing around, when I checked the promo clock this morning, it's now showing as 107 days left till I've fulfilled the promo, so I guess I'm not complaining too much about the time it took for the number port. My account is also showing a $10 credit for the SIM purchase, so hopefully that can be used towards the first months bill.
