For anyone turned off by the price. I will say this, I build battery packs, power banks, power generators a lot. We're talking for businesses. I've probably assembled around 10,000 in my time, been in charge of ordering parts, you name it.

It is hard enough to get something that supplies PD over 100w in such a small form. One of our packs has PD 65w (true 65 from the PD output) and the module itself is over 30 dollars. After all is said and done, with the batteries (LiFePo4) and everything else, boost/bucks, fuses, bms, it came out to 70 dollars, BEFORE selling.

Now if I wanted to do a cheap, ugly home project it would cost me around 40-50 bucks to get over 65w. I would figure if they sold these at 80 dollars they'd probably start to lose money. It really isn't cheap to make these and they are so much more superior to what I build at my job, for 70 bucks.
This was 99 not long ago and was a questionable purchase even at that price
not bad. I purchased this from AnkerDirect on Amazon on December 28th, 2022 for about $99+tax/free amazon prime shipping.

I've brought the charger to me on domestic flights in the US and can say that I've never had issues traveling with it.

The case that comes with the battery sucks.

If you're looking to buy a case, I recommend getting the Anker SoundCore Official Travel Case (SoundCore/SoundCore 2 Bluetooth Speaker ONLY) - PU Leather Premium Protection Carry Case.
The charger fits perfectly in it.

Picked this up on the last SD, it's a BEAST. Way bigger than I expected, but I use it daily. You can charge the pack while charging 2 devices, I use it regularly for my XPS and pretty much any other laptop that can charge via USB-C.

Great for people who carry a handful of mobile devices.

In that price range, it would be a good idea to buy portable (Li) car jump starter. It has all this plus very bright lumen flashlights, plus the car battery jump, and possibly lesser price than this with equivalent all other features if not more and better. Noco G40 is one of the best for around this price after I did some research
The Noco isn't even in the same league as this device, i have both. The power delivery of this unit will charge most laptops and it has way more in reserve than the Noco.

I'd say wait on this one if you can. Honey shows this went as low as $99 5 times in the past 4 months on Amazon alone. If you need one right now, it's still a good sale to jump on.

I bought this last time it was on sale. It is freaking awesome. It'll run my Surface Pro and MBP running all day long, though not at the same time. Tempted to buy another.

How's it compare to this one that Amazon says is the newer version?

Anker Portable Charger, 24,000mAh 65W Power Bank, 537 Power Bank (PowerCore 24K for Laptop), for MacBook Pro, Dell XPS, Microsoft Sur... https://a.co/d/9loYVGm

Yes I wonder the same as you. New one is less cubical and lacks a display?

Your typical 18650 battery is 3000 mAh. This thing for $100 is 24000mAh. Are we talking about the same mAh rating? Wish they gave numbers in watt-hours.

So is this thing that you're buying for $100 the equivalent of eight 18650 batteries? I guess if you need the power output it's worth it.

This is the best (only option) if you are looking for a 140w charging bank for your MacBook Pro 16". It's the only bank that supports Power Delivery 3.1 (up to 240w, but only the newer MBPs take advantage of the 140w charging). I've done several tests with it, and it REQUIRES the MagSafe to USB-C charger to take advantage of the 140w charging (although, at most, I get about ~120w). Also, the 24,000mAh seems like a big battery, however, it won't even charge my MBP fully when it's at 0%. It dies when it gets to around 80%. The great thing is that it comes with a 140w capable USB-C charge cable that charges the battery fully in about an hour. The screen is really nice too as it shows useful info such as the battery percentage, and the number of watts going in/out.

Does the quality of the usb-c cables matter or are they basically the same?
It matters

Any decent cable will be able to charge at ~60W, but I've run into many that aren't decent

If you want to charge at more than 60W, you'll want to get a cable that specifically supports the higher power

This power bank will come with a 140W-capable cable
