Depends on what you are hiking. Mostly broken out, consolidated snow, you can get away with 23 barely. Breaking deep snow, 30 will float way better.

I've seen quite a few mountaineers with these this year. People like them. Way better pricepoint than MSR or even Tubbs. Seems like equal performance.

I dunno, you can get totally effective snow shoes for like $50 at Al's Sporting Goods. Seems overpriced.
