fyi - boostmobile unlocks after 12 months
YMMV, obviously, but I ordered two of these and both are unlocked. I have not yet activated the Boost lines that came with these.

Note that one has a 3rd party battery, as I got the warning, and the other has battery health of 83%. I'm guessing they replace the battery if health is less than 80%.

I don't think there was a color option; both phones I got are black.

I set up both phones on wi-fi before inserting a sim card and checked the sim status in the settings. Then I inserted a non-Boost sim to test. I tested with Cricket and Mint sims and both worked fine.

The bodies of each had minor scuffs and scratches, with the screens in very good condition. Screens also appeared to be original, as the "true tone" option is available on both. Face ID worked fine on both as well.

They came in plain white boxes with a Boost sticker on top and had an OEM usb-a lightning cable with a generic charging brick. (if it's not an OEM cable, it sure looks and feels like one)

$100 is a killer deal for a used, unlocked iPhone Xr, and this one includes 3 months of coverage.
Metro deal requires porting over from another carrier, also need to go to store can't order online, and most stores add extra fees like activation/tax on original price, meanwhile this deal can be ordered online, includes 3 months of service, and you don't need to port

[QUOTE=MaKlounkee;161471338]Thanks. I wonder about other companies besides google.

Also, Best Buy has Boost 3-month 5GB service for $15 and Boost 3-month unlimited for $37 but they are for new customers only. 5GB [bestbuy.com] - Unlimited [bestbuy.com]

I brought the 3 month unlimited at for $37. From my account, I can switch to the $25/month after the 3 months is over.

I think this deal is like that too. you can continue with boost on the $25 per month unlimited, which is 30GB hard stop.

BTY, the speed from boost is same as metropcs. From where I live is 10x faster than visible.

I am not familiar with this warning, when does it display it? It is the kind of thing that nags you repeatedly?

Also did you do the trick mentioned above of choosing "port in a number" during the order process so that you could delay activation? Edit: I am dumb, you're the one who mentioned the trick laugh out loud
No, the message pops up once when you set the phone up, but after that there's just a little notice in the settings, nothing intrusive from what I can tell, and it won't tell you the battery health.

Anyway to change my option to port in a number instead of wanting a new number after purchase, want to perserve the 3-month of service.

Not that I'm aware of. If you just ordered today, try logging in to the account (they send a one-time use password right away, which you have to change), set up your security pin under settings->security, then contact support via chat to see if they will change it.

I don't know if this is possible, but it's worth a try. You would obviously have to try it before the line is automatically activated.

I was able to purchase using PayPal last night.
I did too and then chatted with the online customer service and shut off autopay for me…I'm not activating the phone though…just using it for kids on WiFi…they said it would unlock after 12 months of ACTIVE service…I'm letting mine lapse after the initial 90 days I'm paying upfront…so it will put the account into suspend and locked until 9 more months are used…which I won't be doing so locked for good don't care

Thanks for posting. This would be a perfect kids phone if unlocked. I can live with soso battery life and a scratched back but have worries about scratched front screen.

This would be huge. Hopefully other people report the same.

How did you tell it was unlocked? Did you just pop in another sim or is there another way?

If I use Verizon wireless and this comes unlocked, could I move my SIM card over and start using this phone? My 2016 1st gen SE is struggling.

It's under "settings->general->about". Scroll down to "Carrier lock". An unlocked phone will say "no sim restrictions".

You should be able to update this iPhone Xr to the latest iOS 16.x
