YMMV, obviously, but I ordered two of these and both are unlocked. I have not yet activated the Boost lines that came with these.

Note that one has a 3rd party battery, as I got the warning, and the other has battery health of 83%. I'm guessing they replace the battery if health is less than 80%.

I don't think there was a color option; both phones I got are black.

I set up both phones on wi-fi before inserting a sim card and checked the sim status in the settings. Then I inserted a non-Boost sim to test. I tested with Cricket and Mint sims and both worked fine.

The bodies of each had minor scuffs and scratches, with the screens in very good condition. Screens also appeared to be original, as the "true tone" option is available on both. Face ID worked fine on both as well.

They came in plain white boxes with a Boost sticker on top and had an OEM usb-a lightning cable with a generic charging brick. (if it's not an OEM cable, it sure looks and feels like one)

$100 is a killer deal for a used, unlocked iPhone Xr, and this one includes 3 months of coverage.

Metro deal requires porting over from another carrier, also need to go to store can't order online, and most stores add extra fees like activation/tax on original price, meanwhile this deal can be ordered online, includes 3 months of service, and you don't need to port

Because they released the 11 which was essentially the exact same phone but with an additional camera for slightly better night photos.
But also a newer A13 (up to +30% in FPU), a bit better water protection (IP68 vs IP67), newer LTE modem and better WiFi chip, and U1 chip for airtags. While for frugal people like me this was not enough to upgrade in 2019, $20 difference now makes no sense to buy XR right now even for kids (and much shittier CS vs Metro or other MVNOs, Boost is always on top on the issues rankings)

Auto-renewal is on, a new number is assigned. Even if not activated, will I be billed?
To cancel payment, do I chat with a online rep?
With Boost, to be 100% sure you won't be charged you better
* get a written contract signed by Boost CEO + 2 witnesses,
* cancel your temporary card you used to pay, and the bank account, and request a new SSN and a legal name,
* join WITSEC (United States Federal Witness Protection Program) and keep your fingers crossed Cool

Do you need to contact Boost CSR for Account number and Pin if you want to port out the number?

Account number is easy - just log into their website and you should be able to find it there.

But you need to call for the pin.

Anyone know if I can change the number I port than what I entered in when ordering? I don't want to risk losing that phone number.

Why would you need to delay the service? The iphone xr only cost $23. Trade the phone into something better. Better yet port it over to metro pcs for a Iphone 11 brand new for $66 each.
mainly my 2nd or backup line

if i start one of the 3 months i'd like to be able to use the 2nd 3 month after vs all of them starting the same time

I thought the boost number didn't qualify as a port. umber to metro also?

I saw others said they still bill you even acct is closed by porting out. Need to use limited virtual card or call them to disable autopay.

You MIGHT be able to get an iphone 11 for $80 ( $60 service + $20 activation fee + very variable taxes ) if you're lucky and persistent and have time to waste and you have a non-t-mobile number to port in:

That makes no sense. How can charge you for service on a line that doesn't exist?

Is that correct I'm safe not to be charged anymore if I paid with PayPal and after that switched off recurring pays to Boost in my PayPal account? I'm a bit doubt because in Boost account I see that Autopay is on and nowhere to get rid of it.

I have Chase/BofA accounts. Do they offer such services as a limited virtual cards? Or could you please suggest where to get that VC?
