Says "Offer not valid on third-party delivery services"
Some interesting facts.
I noticed Pizza Hut and Jet's pizza are coded as Merchant = Restaurants while Domino's is Fast Food.
In that case, if I want a pizza and the $5 rebate, I should order from Jet's or Pizza Hut but not Domino's
These are the others I have from my previous statements that are Merchant = Fast Food
Arby's
Chipotle
McDonald's
Wendy's
Firehouse Subs
Subway
Jimmy John's
Panda Express
Jersey Mike's
Shake Shack
McAlister Deli
Boston Market
Burger King
Panera Bread
Krispy Kreme
Popeyes

That's what I mentioned earlier in the thread. There is no Restaurant category. The drop tab has 12 or 15 categories and the only one food related is "Food & Drink."
Every purchase I've made at a restaurant or fast food joint has shuffled into that category. So I'm going to conclude it's extremely broad and this is fret over nothing.
For each listed transaction that shows "Food & Drink" as the category, you can expand it, by clicking on the ">" button, and you will see the Merchant type in the expanded page. Most likely you will see Restaurant as the Merchant type. In short, Chase will credit you $5 for this offer if "Merchant type" is Restaurant, the transaction category is irrelevant.

Just did a quick check and found that chains like McD and BK have Fast Food as Merchant type but, in my case, Panera is listed as Restaurant. Go figure.
Have you tried it yet? I'm curious if fast food counts as restaurant because in Chase website they explicitly mention that fast food counts as restaurant/dinning, and I always earn restaurant category bonus point on Subway purchases.
I haven't tried. I will not try it on any of one those I listed as fast food.
I think people are confusing category with merchant. while fast food belongs to category = Dining, the merchant = fast food. Im just copying and pasting these from my statement
TGIF - category = food and drink, merchant type = restaurants
Dunkin - category= food and drink, merchant type = fast food
This probably is not a problem with the quarterly 5% bonus as that promo is triggered by category, so both fast foods and restaurants will work the same while this particular one it mentioned specifically merchant must be restaurant.
Offer expires 2/28/2023. Offer valid one time only. Payment must be made directly with the merchant. Offer not valid on third-party delivery services. Payment must be made on or before offer expiration date. Must make payment directly with the merchant. $5 cash back will be processed within 14 business days of your purchase. The merchant must be classified as a restaurant for purposes of this offer to qualify. Purchases may not qualify if they are charged by a merchant other than the restaurant. Some merchants that sell food do not qualify, such as candy stores, nut stores, confectionery stores, dairy product stores, bakeries, delis, beer/wine/liquor stores, and butchers. Food delivery merchants will qualify if they classify as a restaurant. Chase cannot guarantee the delivery of alerts for this offer.
Just checked my past few transactions including mcdonalds and they were all classified as "Food & drink". I know for sure one of them I went to is a full service sit-down restaurant.
yes, both will be category = food and drink but when you clicked on it further you'll see
TGIF merchant type = Restaurants
McDonalds merchant type = Fast food
I checked my past transactions, as well as looked through Chase Categories. Not only were all of my Grubhub/Uber Eats orders and fast food stops classified as "Food & Drink", but so were all of my sit-down restaurant charges as well. In fact, I did not even see a "Restaurant" category as I was clicking through the Categories on the drop-down menu.
Plan to test with an order tomorrow and will report back in a few days to see if Grubhub works.
Category is Food and Drink
You can see Restaurant/Fast Food under merchant type when you clicked on that line of your transactions in chase app/online

It inconsistent it seems. I have Panera and it is coded as merchant type = Fast food. I guess its up to the branch rather than Chase
