AMEX 40% off qualifies - just bought for $140+taxes (a bit less than 40% as $60 is the max discount)

The Airpod Pro 1 released in October of 2019, so you've been using the 1's for at most two and a third years. Meanwhile, I have a pair of shure earbuds that I've been using since 2009.

E-waste and sound quality are absolutely good arguments against wireless earbuds.
Terrible argument. Just because it's still functional doesn't mean you should continue using it.

With your logic why should one upgrade anything? Do you even follow this strict mindset? What phone do you use now? Why not stick to a Nokia flip phone. It still functions perfectly fine. Why buy new clothes, it still keeps you warm even if it looks raggedy.

My Airpods Pro 1st gen was manufactured before 2019. (you could check in Apple support page) they have a free airpods pro service program where you could replace the airpods for free. I had already replaced one of my right buds for crackling sound. Wondering if I should do it again and then trade it? What's the trade-in value for the Airpods Pro 1st gen in Apple store?
Apple does not provide a trade in on AirPods, nor will they just give out "free" replacements. There are qualifications that have to be met.

If most, if not all, your devices are in the Apple ecosystem go with these, hands down. I own a Samsung/Android tablet and phone so I was forced away from these… I bought the WF1000XM4- because of my mixed device use.

I regrettably waited over a month to use and returned my pro 2's (these). The ANC in the Xm4s is good, sound is awesome, but the fit is garbage. I miss my AirPods Pro 2. I reverted back to my Jabra 85ts for all my devices and will be buying another pair of Pro 2s if I can sell the XM4

I have powerbeats pro which are a few years old now but still work. Are these worth the upgrade?
It depends on your use case I think. I have and use both Airpod Pros and Powerbeats Pros. My airpods are my "everyday carry" where as the powerbeats are my gym/running headphones.

In my opinion, the airpods have two major advantages over the powerbeats: size and active noise cancelling. The airpods also (IMO) have a slight edge on sounds quality but I'm not an audiophile so YMMV.

The airpods case is tiny compared to the beats and comfortably fits in your pants pockets. The beats are huge and harder to transport unless you're throwing them in a backpack. As for the active noise cancelling on the airpods, it's great for doing noisy tasks like vacuuming (I like to listen to podcasts or audiobooks when doing work around the house - the ANC is amazing).

The only major advantages the beats have over the airpods are fit and water (sweat) resistance. I like the beats for working out because they stay in my ears better because of the behind-the-ear hook design.

Cooool. Clearly you're not the target market for these. I enjoy my $1k setup at home, but on the go and exercising, I also enjoy using my AirPods. You're not accomplishing anything by being an obstinate, petulant child.

Does apple ever match these sales on their website? Everyone is doing $200 but I am sitting here with a $50 apple gift card I would like to burn up.
Look up apples price match policy.

If I can remind even one person that you can get superior sound for less money with less e-easte, then I've done good work here. And if I can do so without insulting others, then even better!

I don't think you realize how narrow the gap is now. Despite using AAC, the sound quality of the AirPods Pro 2 is shockingly good. You still are failing to understand why people buy these headphones. I wouldn't be able to exercise with wired headphones. I went through so many pairs since they would inevitably stop working from wear and tear before I started using TWS headphones in 2018. That generated far more ewaste than the two pairs of TWS I own. You don't grasp the convenience or purpose behind them. People aren't buying these for sound quality. Why do I need top notch sound quality while using headphones in environments where external noise makes it impossible to even appreciate it? When I'm not at home where I can actually do critical listening, there's absolutely no point. Why aren't you recommending people purchase IEMs and get one of the many adapters that essentially make them wireless with the capability of LDAC and aptX HD? That would be far more applicable to the people looking at true wireless headphones, rather than wired ones lol

Let me guess, you also believe that it's our responsibility to recycle in general and that it's effective?

I don't think anyone is confused about sound quality, I have a really nice pair of cans I use at home and they are clearly better.

However, even when I had a really nice pair of earbuds, I just didn't use them as often as I do my AirPods because in the end the convenience of Apple's wireless ecosystem is more important while I'm away from home than the improved sound quality.

With the Gen 2s, the AirPod Pros are creeping ever closer to what I'd call excellent sound for earbuds. The improvement was shocking and will only get better, making that gap smaller and smaller until it's basically nonexistent.

They do give free replacements if it meets the condition I listed in my comment. I had a crackling sound on my right airpods

As stated…. There are qualifications that have to be met. Certain models only qualify and if they exhibit those issues.

You say that, but your comment put all the burden of research on the prospective buyer you're purporting to want to convince. You've just reminded people of something they already know (that wireless headphones cost more than wired), displayed no understanding of the reasons people buy them, and addressed none of the hurdles there might be to getting them to just use wired. If even, say, fifty million people saw this thread, the chances that even one *would* change their minds based on your comment are essentially zero. If the "See Deal" button is a neatly manicured walking path with level, well kept pavement, you've presented them with a twenty foot wall on a muddy fork off that path and suggested climbing it instead and seeing what's on the other side is a good idea.
