Not an expert, craftsman, pro, armchair tool guru, etc... I love my Milwaukee tools. I have both m12 and m18 stuff. They all have their application. One of my most powerful tools is my right angle m12 3/8" impact wrench which is much stronger than my m18 impact driver. But it's meant to be. So buy what you need no matter if its the m12 or m18 series, they all have their function.. and keep your eye here for the deals.

But yes this is a good deal... I prefer sticking to the home depot deals though JIC of warrantee or return issues. Hope that helps.

Picked up the single for $55.99 and the D style Jigsaw for $123. Didn't need 2x the batteries and solid price on jigsaw.

What exactly does the extended mean ? Are these different than all the other 5AH batteries that I've been buying with the sets?

Its probably because of cheap manufacturing cost. They already spent the money on R&D and its cheap to manufacture so they can throw it in kits to keep the cost down. That way they can advertise cheaper prices to people and be more appealing marketing. I hate them. I literally have a pile of bran new ones in a box. I give them away to friends every chance I get.

The deal you want will depend on tools needed, but the new m18 gen drill/driver kit can be "hacked" to $253 right. Drill/driver combo, two 5 ah batteries, charger, and case.

These tool places are usually some if best to get Milwaukee stuff. I got m18 fuel hammer drill and impact gun combo with two 5 ah batteries for $280 last week from a local company that caters to contractors. I'll never shop for Milwaukee at hd ever again.

Just keep in mind that these 5.0 batteries are not the newer high output batteries.
So these would not be ideal for certain (high drain) tools, like some of the bigger Fuel saws and some of the outdoor power tools.
