I have these on the TVs mainly for mirroring the Quest 2 so everyone can play along with Among Us VR.
However keep in mind that if you use it for this purpose, ethernet is going to be your best bet. And to get ethernet on this, it takes a USB C hub WITH ethernet and WITH 20+ watt pass through charging.
This will smooth out all your streaming and casting, but it does create something of a mess behind the TV.
The processors are different. 4K runs 4x ARM Cortex-A55 @ 1.91 GHz and HD runs
4x ARM Cortex-A35 @ 1.2 GHz. 4K is faster, but that's not the whole picture. The HD's processor is newer and has AV1 codec support, which is more efficient than H265.
Did anyone have a problem with the remote not working, I don't know if there are several gens on this but I got the very first one and the remote has stopped working?

Yeah, I've got 3 of these and every once in a while a remote is unresponsive. I just take out a battery for a sec and all is good. Most people don't like the remote but I really like it.
After many generations of Amazon Fire TV, I switched to this one and no regrets. It doesn't get slower at all after months of usage so far. And no pre-loaded Amazon stuff and ads.

Yes. Factory reset has taken care of it both times it's happened to me.
Very slow and painful to use. It is also full of ads
Been using the 4k model of this from release and have never had problems with being slow or painful to use. Ive got two of them actually (1 for home, 1 for work) and only issues I've run into is the remote would stop working out of the blue which required a factory reset of the Chromecast to fix. I've probably had that happen like 2-3x total between 2 devices so it hasn't been a big deal.

I have a regular chromecast but hate it for the kids room b/c I have to use my phone to cast and as a remote.
Can I just load apps like YouTubeTv Netflix etc and let the kids run off of it?
Thanks
