Any reason to buy the 4K Chromecast over the HD Chromecast if you don't have a 4K TV?

Nope, you're wrong. I knew it was $50.

Got one at launch, liked it way better than the stick but it did a software upgrade and someghow bricked the remote in the process and it was out of warranty. Probably a one off but it was odd

It looks like that was in August '22. Wasn't it released in 2020?

Is there a Google tv remote app for apple iOS? I can't find one. TIA
Yes, it's called Google TV. Open that app, and it has a small remote icon to clock and control your AndroidTV device on the same WiFi network..

I have a feeling if Google released this instead of the version without a remote right off the bat, we'd all be using Chromecasts instead of Amazon Firesticks.

Is this better than a Roku in any way? We have 3 tvs all with Rokus and the only thing I hate about the Roku is that sometimes the remote stops connecting.

no, there isn't. The HD is the one you want if it's not a 4k tv

Yes it does. Mine did even with only 3 apps installed and cache cleared. May have been bug in one of the updates. Factory reset fixed that.
Sounds like a bug or an app holding up way too much of your storage on an error. I don't have mine in front of me but I'd estimate I have 12-16 apps and while the storage is nearly maxed, its not a problem.

Netflix was not able to play anything due to low space. I uninstalled everything and got the same message 3 days later. It was after last update.

The processors are different. 4K runs 4x ARM Cortex-A55 @ 1.91 GHz and HD runs
4x ARM Cortex-A35 @ 1.2 GHz. 4K is faster, but that's not the whole picture. The HD's processor is newer and has AV1 codec support, which is more efficient than H265.

The 4k version which came out in 2020 which was initially $90 (but came with 6 months Netflix), it probably was $40 last August, it's 2 years old.

Can this connect to a WiFi6 router? I have a gen1 Chromecast that can't connect to my main WiFi6 router. I have to connect to a bridge that isn't very close to my TV.

In for one, but not for video. I have a Sony OLED w/ Google interface but I'm using the 1080p Chromecast so I Can add my Home Theater which is hooked up to my TV to my Google speaker group. I have 4 Chromecast Audios (RIP) and 3 Google Nest devices so this is my cheap way of having music in every room.

You can't add your TV As part of the Google speaker group, but you can add the Chromecast.
