Keep in mind most of the reviews you'll find are for different versions of the MP34. The current version based on reddit posts and what I got is a RTS5762 controller with 128 MB of DRAM. Mine is the 1 TB version but Reddit posts report the same for 2TB and 4TB versions.

Yes, that is why (along with the many reviews of failures), I passed on the 4TB version and instead got a Crucial P3 QLC dramless drive. Performance is much worse, but it should be reliable with a 5 year warranty. .

Mp34 is also a 5 year warranty.
I'd expect it to last longer due to it being tlc and the higher tbw rating although some say that's meaningless.

The Realtek RTS5762 is a high performance controller, so having it in the MP34 is not a bad thing:
The MP34 also has a 5 year warranty and a very high TBW rating. I don't see a reason to prefer the P3 unless the Crucial brand name makes you feel more comfortable. The P3 is considered to be a budget class drive. The MP34 is considered to be mid-range.

The amount of dram is based on looking at the chip markings on the drive.
There is software you can download and run to find the flash type. The current mp34 has 128L sk hynix tlc nand.

I'm curious how you discovered this info? I have a recent 1TB version of the MP34. The entire top of the drive, including the DRAM chip, is covered by a label. There are two NAND chips visible on the back, but they have Team markings, so the OEM manufacturer is not apparent. I also couldn't find any software that reports the controller, DRAM, or NAND info.

Look at all the reviews of the 4TB on Amazon in Jan and Feb. Most of the reviews say their unit died in 30 days. Just made me gunshy. The only NVMe I have that died have both been Adata SX8200Pro. Fantastic performance for the money for 2 months, then dead. Returning it for another one and got ones with the same part number but all different components running much slower. So that made me never to buy another Adata NVMe. Not sure if Teamgroup is similar. Both teamgroup and adata are taiwan based companies. So I just went with a name brand, since I dont want to risk my data, even though I back it up.

I don't think you mean "Most of the reviews." here? It looks like 93% of the reviews are 4 or 5 stars. Only 7% of the reviews are 3 star or less. Searching through them, I only found one mention of dying within 30 days. I found one mention of 5 months and one mention of 7 months. Out of 3,200 reviews, that seems pretty statistically unremarkable.
Definitely buy something you feel confident in. I just don't want you or others to work from bad information.

I really appreciate that you care about people posting bad info. Here's what I did to get to see those reviews. You may find that this is useful as well for other things,. Go to amazon. look up teamgroup mp34 1 TB and click on that page, (OP linked it as well). Notice that 1TB is in a red box and so is Movement (MP34). Click on 4TB, the one I wanted to get info on. Go down to reviews and then click see all reviews. Use these filters: Sort by: most recent. Under all formats, click on Capacity: 4TB [Style: Movement]. The first 3 reviews are 1 star: dead after a couple months, faulty product, dreadful performance, The next 5 reviews are: 2 star, 5 star, failed, DOA, 5 star. So since Dec 1, 8 reviews, 4 failed, 1 poor performance. That is enough for me to pass on the 4 TB version. I will note that the 1TB and 2TB versions seems to have much better reviews.
