Just buy the vouchers, go to the nintendo switch online menu in the eshop, then just press redeem. It'll show you a list you can use the vouchers on, and just use them. Both games you want are on there.

You should do what I'm doing and just wait. The voucher is good for one year from purchase date (in my case today)
Gotcha! But did you redeem 1 voucher on Zelda Tears?

Are the vouchers tied to an account or can it be used by someone else or transferred to someone else. Trying to see whether I can get in with a friend.

What's the likelihood Nintendo pulls Zelda from the vouchers? I mean, once they put it up there, it should stay there for some time right?

buying expensive first party switch games via digital is not slick it's about the stupidest deal you can make for yourself, resale on physical holds firm at about 30 and up, can even increase when out of production

Zero chance. I have a 1 year family plan code I never used. I'm going to wait until the day Zelda launches to add it then buy the voucher then get Zelda. No reason to do it now. I Wana see if Switch 2 comes before 5/12/2024. Then I'll use my second voucher on another game, possibly Metroid Prime. 4. If not then I'll just get some other game before it expires.

First you need any type of membership to buy the vouchers. Second, you need an active membership of any kind to redeem a voucher.
If your membership lapses, your voucher does not expire. Your voucher expires after 12 months. Let's say you sign up for one month $3.99 You can buy the vouchers and get Zelda but make sure do not sign up for that until closer to when Zelda launches. They sign up for one month before you use the next one.

Also to make everything more slick, I only purchase eShop gift cards when they're on a deal. Second, when I redeem them, my Nintendo switch account address is some random Google address I found in Oregon. 0% sales tax.

I just realized after buying one month of Nintendo online to buy the vouchers that you also have to have Nintendo online at the time game releases or else it cancels the order. Maybe that was clear and I didn't see it, but it didnt cross my mind they'd let you buy them but not let you use them.
This is a good lesson everybody. You guys are all creaming your pants over pre-ordering this thing and you don't gain anything from it. I have a 1 year code for a family plan I never used. I'm waiting until the day Zelda launches. No need to pre-order nothing. Add the code buy the vouchers redeem for Zelda then have till 5/12/2024 to figure out what to use next.

This is not going away anytime soon. Relax.

Zelda is not a game you resell, that is reserved for games you question whether they will be good or not and get rid of them.

This is GOTY , a title you keep in your library forever/

Just a piece of advice, but this late in the cycle it might not be smart to go digital unless you plan on using and keeping your Switch whenever the next console cycle hits for Nintendo. Probably why they are doing this Voucher deal again. Nintendo won't commit to backwards compatibility. They killed the eshop after Wii U and have never let you transfer any digital purchases to other consoles.

They are antiquated and ridiculous when it comes to this and they seem to be willing to stay that way. As recently as November of last year in fact. https://www.gamesradar.com/ninten...-consoles/

Literally all the gameboy and gba games announced today for Switch where available on Wii U through eshop. You could even get Metroid Prime Trilogy, the Wii version through eshop. Did any of that come over to Switch after purchasing them? Nope. So if you Switch dies in the future and you have the next console not real likely you will ever have access to your purchases unless you pick up a used Switch at that point.

I prefer physical game, I can always sell them for at least half of the price.

Why is Nintendo switch online membership required? Dumb.
You know you can get it with expansion pass on eBay for about $13 a year?
