Many posts in this deal thread have been removed for arguing and derailing the intended collaborative nature of our deal threads.
There are many situations in which a retailer will provide its customers with an itemized receipt showing the prorated value of each item, should the customer choose to return part of a bundled set of items. If that were not allowed according to a merchant's internal policy, it is up to each merchant to implement safeguards or restrictions that would prevent that sort of abuse (if it were viewed by them as such). If it is allowed, however, we'd ask that our deal threads not be used as a venue to personally attack or target members for exercising their personal choice which may be contrary to our own.
In other words, if you are against using a "hack" like the one mentioned in this thread, we'd implore you not to use it. We'd ask that everyone in this community respect each other and not leave contentious comments.
Thank you!

I love the idea of the impact wrench for tires but that is such a seldom use for me. Or things like an anode rod change. What are you all using the impact wrench for?
The ratchet is appealing too but other than using the 3/8 for putting the bike rack on the tow hitch, I mainly use a 1/4 ratchet for smaller jobs.
But tbh, like you said, both impact wrench and light will prob be seldom. But good to have when in need!

While Home Depot probably prefers people don't "hack" the deals, they clearly are aware of it and on a deal-by-deal basis they allow it. There were plenty of Milwaukee deals around BF which were forced combo bundles, tool + tool at discounted price (not hackable single line), rather than the buy one get free gift xyz (hackable, multiple lines). They clearly have the capability of running sales that prevent hacking, but choose not to most of the time. Probably because it is much easier and faster to make a "you pick" single SKU than building 14 new SKUs for each bundle. So I'm sure the percentage of 'hackers' is factored into their margin calculations, otherwise they would be bad at business. They have already adjusted some (pajama) practices to lower the % of hackers by removing the 'ship to store' hack, and the 'cancel one item immediately after buying' hack, and that seems to have satisfied them for now. If you now have to go into a HD store to "hack" I guess they figure they have a good shot at getting more of your dollars on that trip and it's not worth to cut off that angle yet.

I think I settled on the inflator and impact wrench. I have another inflator but it doesn't do low pressure or deflate so this one is more versatile than what I already have. And while I may not have a frequent need for an impact wrench, I currently don't have a tool that can do what this can so this fills a small need. So I am getting the impact wrench for $50 and inflator for ($41) by using separate orders.
Regarding the ratchet, I have manual sets that have suited my needs for years like you. I've never thought I needed a power version when using the manual before, but it does seem cool to have.
Other than it being smaller and lighter, is there a reason to have both?
