ThinkPads are better than ThinkBooks. But do yourself a favor if you want this deal, configure it with one of the 100% sRGB screens. A screen with 45% NTSC is hot garbage.

That will be the new put-down of 2023: "45% NTSC."

Have you ever looked at a screen that's only 45% NTSC? It's terrible. I'm not saying it's "there's no way you can do color grading on this screen" kinda terrible, I'm saying it's "I just went to my favorite sports team's web site and the colors are off so badly that it looks like a cheap off-band sports team web site made in China." When the reds look orange and the blues look grey, it's an amazingly shitty display.

Been that way for a while. No reason to skimp on the one part of the laptop you stare at for 1000s of hours.
They would probably say that a computer with such a screen is intended for low-wage workers to use, like in a warehouse or supermarket.
Lenovo is oblivious to the viewpoints of the majority of their customers.
But they are based in China, where "the customer is always right" is an unheard of maxim. It's a country where hospitals have no soap.

Yeah, I've seen the 45% NTSC display at Costco on a Ideapad 5. It was laughably bad.
Given the cpu, ram and storage combination, the sub-par display spec, and lack of thunderbolt or USB4, I'd say 'hot' as-is is more in the neighborhood of $749 (maybe even $699 cuz of the display). The hdmi 2.0 (vs. 2.1) doesn't help.
