Depends on too many factors to answer properly. Depth and weight of snow, temperature, etc. This is only a 4ah battery, so not huge.

I'd expect that would make snow cleanup for most folks easier. I'm in Colorado Springs and we occasionally get dumped on, I'd imagine I'll need to dig out my old but still useful Troybilt gas power 24" snowblower for larger/wet snow. I'll use this 40v one for smaller snow so I don't end up smelling like 2 stroke before going to work in the mornings after a storm.

Everyone's needs and conditions are different, but again, this would be great for most folks.

EDIT: As a note, when I ordered just a few minutes ago, the price was $149!

You could if you buy their 80v snow blower, this is 40v and those 80v batteries likely will not fit

Bad reviews appear to be related to my comments above ... don't expect too much out of a 40v snow blower. Its not meant to move 10" of heavy snow, nor a whole 3 car driveway on a single charge.

Also appears the batteries are only good down to 7F, any lower they will turn themselves off and must be warmed up to keep going (which is counter intuitive for a snow blower.)

Again, though, this is great deal for most people and average needs, IMO.
I just bought this. I kept the batteries indoors for my last snow blower. Between that and self-healing while discharging I never had a problem in sub-zero temperatures.

I'm on my 3rd one, first was DOA, second one worked when they sent the replacement in the spring, so never used it. Went to use in winter, dead. Got my 3rd one now, still haven't tried it. The warranty has been great getting replacements, but I think it's known for the auger basically to just stop and not spin. That was my issue. Lights come on, but nothing else. Hopefully 3rd time is good, but no snow

theres an 80v for $250 (down from $400) but im skeptical still.... the plastic blade is a big turn off and im curious if theres a minimum amount of snow (i.e. needs at least 4" or something)

but having 2 80v batteries for each mowing and blowing.... thats a good time.
Im all-in on greenworks ecosystem...but stay away from the snow thrower. I hate this thing so, so much:

(This is for the 80v version. I dont expect great things from a 40v)

- the plastic auger isnt actually that bad. But the plastic chute is JUNK. it will often mis-align or break when trying to change the angle of snow exiting...and its already bad enough that you have to bend over to change it. The rotation pole broke so often that I just gave up on it and just turn the chute manually too.

- The metal bumper pieces (i dont know the term...but theyre like tiny skis?) which protect the unit while sliding on your driveway break away very easily, leaving the whole front of unit exposed to wear during use.

- The usual nonsense with a single-stage of any type...if snow is too wet, and especially if it is too high, the machine will clog and you will have to buck it like a mechanical bull to un-clog it.

- Snow sticks to the inside of the chute often (you can apply WD-40 or the like to prevent this, but youll need to do it often

Battery life ironically, actually isnt an issue at all; I have a short-ish driveway, and can finish with 1.5 2Ah batteries.

At the end of the day, this is nowhere close to the paradigm-changer that the lawn mower is. I heard that E-Go has a better electric thrower, but ive never seen it on sale...

GL.

Worth a try for the price. Something my wife and kids can use vs the huge gas one we have. Also get the 3 year $22 Allstate warranty. It probably won't last that long and you will get your money back or a new one.

So it seems like it's probably not going to snow here this winter and I don't want to take the chance of not being able to use it until next year, have it crap out on me then and no longer be eligible for warranty. So back it goes for now. I'm sure it'll come up for sale again in the fall or next winter again. I have a corded Snow Joe that does the job for now, was just in on this because I'm in deep with the Greenworks 40v line and have a ton of batteries.

for $35 more you can get the 48v Snow Joe on Amazon. That one appears to have a steel auger. They both have some suspect reviews which appear to be common for battery powered snow blowers...however, both also have a 3 yr warranty

I need a companion for the beastly Ariens. Something for the "light work". Problem is we're not even getting light snow this year. It snows in the morning and by 3pm it's gone. I'm like the other guys, wait for the next sale and hope I get to use it. But I'll still thank the OP.

I live in maine and my mother owns one of these. It sucks and not in the way you want. Anything above 3 inches and this thing is pretty much useless, forget doing the end of a driveway with this as well. I'd take this money and buy a used gas powered snowblower.

I'm in for one.

I've been telling myself that I am gonna find a cheap snow blower for the past 2 seasons. I'd say this is cheap enough. We are supposed to get snow on Wednesday so I will try it out and return if needed.
