I skipped a toy like this and actually got something useful which was an ACDelco ARM601-3 3/8" (3.7 to 37 ft-lbs.) digital torque wrench for lower torque applications like car engines (for about $86.39 on sale, normally about $100).

I do want to buy something like this but I am afraid it will be too weak.
These are two completely different tools. The ryobi is a ratchet kit and what you posted is a torque wrench. Not really comparing the same tool so what's the point of your comparison?

With only 35 ft./lbs. of torque I don't think this is meant as a bolt buster. It's more of a tool after you've already broke free the bolt and are looking at conveniently removing it the rest of the way, or are snugging it up to torque down with a torque wrench.

You can easliy bust 70ft/lbs by manually breaking the bolt loose with the tool, then you ugga dugga it out for the rest of the 2-3 inches of bolt. Same with reinstalling. And if you are really needing more than 35 ft/lbs with a 3/8's...

Some of these allow you to break torque with it, but this isn't one of them. Plenty of reviews/videos of people breaking these by using it to break torque.

I have one but I find myself always using an electric impact wrench, ratchet, and/or pneumatic impact ratchet. This one's a bit bulky and fills an in-between that I never needed. Might be good for some, but I don't use it as much as I thought I would.

Yea i have the M12 non fuel with the weee battery. Its great for tight spots or working over your head. These bigger ones might be more suitable for indoor use such as assembling furniture vs busting rusty bolts on equipment.

One thing i do not like about these things is there is no clutch and no throttle. So you have to be real careful going into aluminum and wood, as you are going to get 35 ft/lbs if you like it or not, unless you just goose it down with a flew clicks at the end.

Thoughts on returning the free ratchet tool and buying this kit? About $35 more for the 1.5 battery and charger.

I have this kit for some time and have used it few times , few bolts at the time (4-8) and battery was ok . IF you gonna be using it heavily not sure how long 1.5 battery will last before you have to charge it. You could probably find better deal on battery and charger. This is still totally good deal.
