I paid only one month of service, and let it sit in the box. It's automatically unlocked 180 days later.

Am I the only one terrified of going into a metro store. Have read so many horror stories of mangers making up their own rules (requiring insurance, buying cases, requiring 3 months of service)

But then you can't use the phone number on another service right?
You can port the number out before the phone gets unlocked.

$80 for iPhone 11 seems like a steal. Unlocked after 6 months. But port-in is required, right? Need that in the title.

Wonder if they still charge sales tax on the phone in store.

check out this thread, looks like several boost stores have iphone 11 renewed for 39.99 + Tax, Boost unlocks in 60 days and i feel it might be a better deal than Metro.

Re: unlocking policy

Are you sure you didn't get Boost confused with Tracfone/TotalWireless? Boost requires 12 months of continuous service before they'll unlock their phones.

Im getting the XR from boost mobile.
1. Can I port it out as soon as I recvieve it and get the account # and pin?
2. If I port out will it automatically stop the auto pay or do I still need to call/chat to disable autopay?

Might be a better idea to ask in the Boost thread. Given how long both threads are getting, it can be confusing if a post about a different deal starts being discussed in depth. A couple of replies to replies later and people tend to lose track of what's what.

No, I didn't care about that $3 GV number. You can port your number out on the 1st month of service if you want to keep the number.

why is one of them $30? and did they force insurance
For two lines on the same account, theres a discount on the second line. So $90 for both lines.

Yes, they didn't tell me about the insurance at all. Only saw it when I checked my receipt online afterwards.

That's usually YMMV depending on the luck of the draw. Something you hope for, but I probably wouldn't count on it.

Zero, if I were to guess. But doesn't hurt trying.

Reasoning being, authorized stores are known to sell at inflated price even when free phone deals are advertised live on their website, I don't see why they'd feel compelled to refund a purchase made during a time that promo wasn't live (or they'd claim so).
I could argue I can just return my phone from last week and then rebuy which would be much more time consuming.

I am going to head over there today or tomorrow and try.

Glad you mentioned that, thanks! Just went to check and it's back in stock again. Filled out the form for email notifications, but apparently those don't work (or maybe they went to Spam)

Do you want to keep your existing phone number?*
No. A new number will be assigned to you automatically.
Yes. I want to transfer my current phone number to Boost Mobile.
If you pick "Yes", there will be no number to port out when you receive the phone as the SIM comes separately and you activate it on your own.

If you are lucky and receive a phone that is carrier unlocked, then you can just put in an active SIM and make calls.

Regarding auto pay, if you don't use PayPal, you will have to either call Boost or use chat in order to cancel auto pay. It has been reported that people have still been charged monthly, even after they have ported out of Boost because they didn't cancel auto pay. If you pay via PayPal, you will want to manually cancel the monthly auto pay in PayPal. I did both types of cancelation.
