Their shelf prices are way overpriced to begin with so this brings it to same price point of competitors. I do like their urethane based trim paint but the price tag on shelf was around $110 which is definitely not worth it without at least 25%+ off. Contractors pricing is of course lower and could be negotiated depending on volumes of paint bought throughout the year.
One trick with these sales is to buy the paint untinted. You can always go back and add whatever tint you need when you are ready to paint. You can also return untinted paint within 30 days if you want to buy now and think it over.
Agreed, unless you get discounted pricing I don't see how it could be worth it outside of convenience. Lowes has SW paint at much lower prices. I used the top tier one that SW has at Lowes for most of my house(interior) and was very pleased with it. I waited until they had a rebate sale (I believe it was $10 off per gallon). The rebate deals pop up once in awhile. I used the middle tier SW paint for closets/low traffic areas and that was pretty good too. Was noticeably different when applying, but still a good paint that I would say for most people is plenty good enough to do the whole house.

Any idea how the SW paint grades at Lowe's map to those at the SW store? My assumption is that SW would make you go to a company store if you really want certain grades/products....
We've always purchased Emerald or Duration from the SW store and have been extremely happy with the quality.

Emerald UTE is awesome, but it's hard to overstate just how long it takes to cure in dark colors--mainly those that require deep base or ultra deep base. It literally takes months.

I've only used it for trim so in it's unmixed ultra white base I think it's called but that's for interesting info on darker colors. One thing I noticed is I had to use one step hier sheen to get right results so the High gloss is more like semi and semi-gloss looks to me more like Satin.
For darker I usually get Duration or regular Emerald if used for myself or customer who wants to pay. For cheaper projects and walls I usually use Behr Ultra plus and PPG diamond (PPG has been bought by Glidden or it was before but not stayed in the can but either way I like it's coverage and durability).
I did. I researched around online A LOT as well as talked to local painters (Facebook home improvement groups and acquaintances with professional experience) and perused Reddit discussions that compared paints and came to the conclusion that SW Lowes line was a noticeably higher quality paint. I know part of it was the amount and type of solids that Sherwin Williams uses in their paints leaves a longer lasting and more resistant coating with better coverage. I only had to do a second coat in one room (bright orange being replaced by a light "agreeable" gray) and it was my own fault for not keeping enough paint on the roller.
This is gold right here. Thank you and saved me time !
What's best for exterior window trim? I need white flat or satin. This is in New England. Would like to just scrape and apply 1 coat and avoid having a priming layer first.

I've only used Emerald trim enamel, Duration for walls, and Eminence for ceiling. All are great.
Still, I wouldn't pay extra for Emerald for walls when Duration does an excellent job in both coverage and workability. Cashmere, the old Plasti-kote Duron paint, is used frequently by professionals and is even lower priced.
You may get a good deal on Emerald now but other more than capable bases will be cheaper and a better value proposition assuming you have a large DIY project using the same color/base and will be purchasing additional gallons in the future as the project progresses.
Damn, I need to order around 10 gal primer, 20 gal paint. I'm guessing I can't just keep reusing this coupon for multiple orders, right?
Yes just hit the link again and it will generate a new number. I think you can use each coupon twice. I just break it up into 75+ orders and do multiple orders.

Does the 40% discount apply in store or only for online orders?

Confused by this question. Both brands sell eggshell finish.
