You may look stupid but if you want to avoid eating jello as your only meal for the rest of your life, wear a helmet when you're on this.

I got one, had about 100mi on it and wheels were a little worn. The bigger issue, as I understand it, are vibrations causing connection issues with the battery due to poor design. I've read it can be mitigated by adding hose clamps (zipties apparently not good enough). I've also read someone say it's because the battery screws are too long but don't know if changing it will solve it long term. There's also a fuse that is prone to failure that affects acceleration when lights are used, though isn't when the light is off.

To get an idea here is one approach for fixing the battery issue
https://www.reddit.com/r/ninebot/...ve_es2es4/

I accept this will be an issue and am handy enough to fix it but the scooter is cheap for a reason.

Also understand that this deal has been going on for some time, so there's a higher risk of getting someone else's recent return due to cosmetic damage, high mileage, being prone to failure, etc. compared to when the deal first started.

I ordered one of these a month or so ago, and it came in surprisingly good condition with low milage (65mi).

HOWEVER

When I tried to bind the device to my Segway account in the app, it told me the device was still "bound" to the previous owner. Not that this prevents me from using the device or connecting to it in the app, but it annoys me that the app and Segway both think the device belongs (by serial number) to the previous owner. I have been back and forth with Segway support AND Newegg support, and they have actually been in contact with each other to resolve the issue, but I haven't heard any successful resolution as of yet.

So if this sort of thing might annoy you, beware. But as I mentioned before, the device functions perfectly fine without needing to unbind from the previous owner, it's just annoying to me personally.

From what I remember it was very hit or miss with quality. Maybe buy two and return the shitty one?

Those are most likely estimations on a new unit, with lower speeds like 10 miles per hour. If you're like me you are probably going at least 15 miles per hour. So the distance is probably half that, and then subtract an extra couple of Miles because of the light usage.
So $230 and you get 12 to 14 miles, not bad as long as it's fully functioning.
I would be curious if you can add another homemade battery pack to this and get a little extra mileage

This is a no go for me. They need to sort this out imo.

Hey Jon I had the Same Issue and Segway and Newegg were not any help. I found a tutorial on YouTube on How to change the Serial Number and haven't had any issues ever since changing my serial Number.

A lot of these get error code 52 when charging. I had to downgrade the firmware using android apps to get them to work using Xiaoflasher (version 161 / BMS149 / 106). Seems like a lot of them were getting returned due to firmware bugs.
