I can't speak to the refurbs, but I've had a pair in service since May 2020 and they're still performing well. Once in a blue moon one of the buds will die because I forgot to charge the case in a while, but otherwise battery life has been fine, a non-issue. I use them primarily at home, for podcasts and music around the house. They are probably one of my favorite pieces of Apple gear, and the only Apple earbud that works for me--EarPods and standard AirPods do not fit snug in my ears, they fall out at the slightest provocation. Audio quality is fine--I'm sure you can get higher quality earbuds, but they sound pretty good, well balanced. Spatial is---whatever--not bad, but more of a gimmick for my needs. Transparency is a killer feature for me, as it gives you far better situational awareness out in public. I will buy the 2nd-gens in a heartbeat when these die, but they are still going strong for now.

Airpods have non-repairable/replaceable batteries. So in the repair process there never replaced. Repairs are likely from the logic board & pins or from the charging case. Like all true wireless products they have roughly a 2-3 year use case. So I'd say they're likely not going to be great w/ battery performance. They might even have full battery capacity but old TWS products will have voltage dips cause it to malfunction or reduced performance.

Walmart had these new for $129 and you could use a paypal coupon to get the price down to 119. I suggest waiting for that deal to pop again

It was also pretty YMMV they weren't available in the 3 counties I checked in CA. Just a friendly heads up
