Agreed on 5 vs. 8, but the problem I've found is that many smart TVs have 100 Base-T/Mbit ethernet ports, not gigabit ones. Both my Sony and TCL are that way, so I've kept them wireless because they actually connect at higher speeds. Mine aren't top of the line nor the newest (TCL is from last year), but I thought I'd mention this in case anyone runs into the same issue. Really annoyed me when I found out!
Hmmm...OK I found it weird that an unmanaged 8 port gigabit switch was listed as regular price 60+ dollars when they usually could be had for 20-25 dollars for years. So I compared it to the gs308, which is metal and $22.

Nice deal on an 8 port switch (5 port switches worthless IMHO as you'll use 3 ports right off the bat and won't leave any headroom for expansion). Nice for an entertainment center or media closet where multiple devices are vying for a gigabit ethernet connection - smart TVs, gaming consoles, HTPCs, NAS, smart home hubs etc. etc.). Nice find OP.

Excellent point - I have an ancient Panasonic TV that doesn't even have Wifi but does have an ethernet port, which I'm sure is not gigabit speed.

So, here's the dilemma. Chances are, you're not utilizing even the 100M speed thru Ethernet. But got it, speed is good. However, what is key specially with video/voice is packet loss. Ethernet via 100/m will always be better than what, 566M you're getting from wireless, if you're lucky? But hey, to each their own.

Piggybacking on this. Keeping it wired means more wireless availability for the other wireless devices.

And to piggyback on a piggyback wired will have lower latency. I've noticed a difference with slower response times of maneuvering just within the menus and apps with wireless compared to wired.

Ethernet is still usually better, even at 100 Mbps. You're likely not making out the wireless connection, and wireless is subject to latency, fluctuations, and interference.

You can get the metal one for less than the white plastic listed here with free shipping through Dell Website.
You can signup for a free Dell account to receive free shipping and receive 30% cashback through Capitalshopping to make it approximately 14.87 tax included.
perfect timing, ordered a 5 port today for $15...why not get 8 for the same price. Wish it was metal, but like that the ports and power are all in the back.

Looks like this should sell cheaper than the gs308 normally or am I missing something?
