Horribly designed drives. The Keychain hole is unusable, and blocks neighboring usb ports.

The Kingston SE9 is the ONLY great Keychain drive. Fast, cheap, all metal, and rugged. The Kingston Data Traveler with the plastic Keychain loop is a runner up. I prefer the SE9 as I had an early 8gb version on my keychain for 8 years before replacing it with a 256gb version.
this is the Tesla factory USB for tesla dash cam. not to say it is good or bad, but it maybe a good price for those who use it for that purpose.
Just a heads up that the metal case gets hot with heavy use. The case is a heatsink and this is actually a good thing and quite normal.

I always wonder what people are doing with flash drives this large. Any common use cases I might be overlooking? Are these fast enough to install and play games from?

Most likely ripped media\movies\music. Stick them into your laptop or car usb port.

Amazing deal. 256gb I paid $35, and I thought it was an amazing value. Yes, this can push 400MB sequential read, np. IOPs are great for a thumb drive too. GET-IT!!

And Write up to 50mps slower than my PNY 3.0🤔🤪

Thanks. Got couple for my Model 3 and Y.

The ones that come with the cars are the same design but black in color and much lower capacity.

So, and (fact check me) I rarely contribute because I rarely have anything good to say, these are my "office," I mean literally I do not use the hard drive, and according to the Amazon, "Purchased another variation 1 time Last purchased Sep 19, 2018 | Color: Gray | Size: 128 GB | View item." This has not failed me since, no drive failures/no back-up drive failures.

Not that I need 128 gb or even 256 gb, but I am buying another one before they go changing things and it does start failing. This is a great deal.
As long as you keep (preferably multiple) backups, that's fine. However, you probably are too late if you wanted to buy one that's exactly the same as what you already have. It's unlikely that one made today is using the same exact type of NAND as one purchased in 2018. I don't know if this drive is affected but there are concerns about the reliability of some of the newer Samsung flash. I know the 870 EVOs seem to be dropping like flies.

I have one of these and am not a fan. Someone complained that these were plastic at some point and, honestly, it would be better if they were. It's explicitly designed to go on a key ring, but it isn't durable enough for the task. The aluminum end keeps getting crushed and I have to wiggle it around to get it to fit into the USB port.

Is there a counterfeit concern with these? I ordered from Amazon because I was in a rush to get them
Yes there is a concern. These drives are being counterfeit and Amazon is full of counterfeit goods.

They must be really dumb then.

I just ran CrystalDiskMark on my DataTraveler SE9. 223 MBps read. 51MBps write. Fast enough that I've never noticed having to wait on it.

Ach - I will follow up after some use - I did buy multiple 128GB but this is the first 256GB. It is terrible, and for that matter the computers I bought three years ago are better than what I am getting now, that technology seems to be going the other direction in this country..

Yeah but Kingston sucks. I've never had a Samsung drive fail. I had 1 Kingston SD card, it was in my camera and failed, lost a year's worth of pictures of my kids. A big 🖕to Kingston

Agreed. Im considering this as storage for photos nd videos of my kids too. If you happen to kno any tips/recommendations id greatly appreciate it

If you're up to it, Amazon's Glacier service is what I chose. For my 100gb family backup $0.34. But that's after multiple copies at home and another one at a friends on an old drive.

I recommend getting an external SSD enclosure and a Samsung or Sandisk 1 TB SSD and use it to back up your photos and back up often. For your cell phone, you can back up to a thumb drive with an OTG cable or multiport reader or back up to an SD or microsd car. I use this one by Sabrent, it works well but the type C power plug is too close to the USB port, they should have layed it out better

SABRENT Multi Port USB Type C Hub with 4K HDMI | Power Delivery (60 Watts) | 1 USB 3.0 Port | 1 USB 2.0 Port | SD/microSD Card Reader (HB-TC6C) https://a.co/d/8F4gP0Y
